When a baker meets modern technology - a great mixture is always welcome. Zomick's Kosher Bakery invests in new technologies, including web technologies. To be more specific, Zomick's works with a small dev team trying to create a add-on for ... well we are not gonna spoil it, you'll have to see yourself.
Zomick's Bakery, the home of the Zomick's Bread / Zomick's Challah has been a proud user and supporter of the Forecastbar Enhanced addon in the past. It seems that there are no good addons of this category, cause there are a ton of other ones full with memory leaks, spyware codes embedded in them and whatever not...
This bakery did really trust this addon and truly believes that if Forecastbar returns in the newer versions of Firefox that will be great. It will be a great sign for a positive, more competitive weather addons and bad times for the competition.
Nonetheless this plugin had all the potential it needed, it was intuitive, the weather information was accurate as a laser pointer, and on top of all this it was free. Nowadays the market is being dominated by Accuweather, whose service is more and more implemented in many weather-location services. They seem to make the competition look inferior in comparison, but I believe that Forecast Enhanced had the same quality, if not qualities.
So this review is more a begging for a return, rather than a classical review. If anyone hears, reads or sees this, please write back about your future plans, or future "no"-plans.
Thank you in advance
- Zomick's Kosher Bakery
This was one of the best plugins since the stone age of Mozilla Firefox, and I'm very sorry to see it discontinued... and not working at all.
I will give it a humble rating of 2 stars, because of the good old times, and the services this plugin provided me in the past.
Now, the last time I tasted it, it got frenzy and blocked ... let's say it blocked everything on random. I don't know, maybe it's got something to do with the other plugins that are currently running on my Firefox, but it definitely is blocking things like crazy.
To give you a fair example I typed the following phrases on Google (in that particular order):
- Zomick's Bakery
- Zomicks Kosher Bakery
- Zomick's Bread
- Zomick's Challah
- Zomicks Challah Recipe
- Zomick's Challah Bread
The first two or three seem to be okay (remember that this is a Google search query), and the ones that come after that often tend to be blocked.
I can not correlate because as I said the problem occurs randomly. Notice that I write a variation on the Zomick's word - sometimes I write Zomicks without an apostrophe.
Well enough about that, I believe I babbled too much. Thanks again to the team/guy/girl who invented this.
It really was a privilege!
I can clearly remember that in the past I used this add-on. Back in the old days, when I was on my 14" monitor, and my Mozilla Firefox was still on version 3.5. And it was the best back then.
There was a time when my Firefox was full with toolbars and my useful working space was reduced to zero. Then this plugin came along. It was a life savior.
Back then when I launched my first Zomicks website even the title (or some text in H1 tag) like: "Zomick's Challah Bread - A Special Challah Recipe by Zomick's Kosher Bakery" couldn't fit on the 800x600 CRT monitor, but this made things significantly easy.
I can clearly remember that I launched my second Zomick's website - the "Zomick's Challah Recipe" (a page full of recipes) this thing helped me with the pictures.
By the time of my third website - Zomick's Challah Bakery, I had a new monitor, a fresh new OS, and the Firefox had matured. This plugin felt unneeded due to the fact that they implemented the F11 and that I was having a better computer configuration.
So thanks to the guy's who first thought this plugin up. Thanks for bringing back the memories and for the faithful services that you provided for me and my Zomick's Bakery websites.
P.S. I tried it recently on my Firefox 29 and on my newest websites - Zomick's Bread / Zomick's Challah Bread, but it didn't work. Pitty!
In the beginning, when we first introduced our profile on addons.mozilla.org we promised that we would build wonderful Zomick's Kosher Bakery addons. We downloaded this, started to do some programming and it worked at first. But then... it didn't.
You see, many programs cannot interpret the apostrophe (') character correctly so when we write "Zomick's Challah Bread" it gets interpreted as "Zomick%27s Challah Bread". It seems to be that with this, a similar programming error occurs. Or, at least we think so...
When we write "Zomick's Challah Recipe" it either returns an error, or "Zomicks Challah Recipe" or simply "Zomick" (notice that it doesn't read all the way). We write this as a string, or varchar to be more exact, but when it is written as a comment it does not pose a problem, and the add-on program seems to work just fine. But because of the name this profile has, it is crucial that it works just fine, it's vital to our brand name.
In the end, to be fair it might have something to do with the computer that we started making and testing this thing. We used to work with several plugins, which malfunctioned in the same time this started to happen... Some of them are not working at all, and some have half functionality on disposal. Maybe it's a virus...
Anyways. a thoughtful and easy to use addon/plugin. Thank you!
You see, Video DownloadHelper is one of my favourite addons. But before that I was operating with this thing. There were some issues, but luckily it was upgraded to VDH and there the bugs were squashed and I believe that some ironing was done.
To give you an example of the inconsistency of this plugin, I shall give specific examples of videos posted on YouTube, thou I will try not to elongate this matter.
For example I have a YT channel called Zomick's Bakery, and there I posted several of my videos:
- Zomick's Bake Shop
- Zomick's Kosher Bakery
- Zomick's Challah Recipe
- The Best Zomick's Bread
You see, on some videos this plugin simply worked like wonder. On some it didn't. There are generally no differences between the videos, their settings are the same, I browse them in the same session, in the same browser, in the same time, except for the content of the videos.
On some the description was longer, namely there were specific information for a specific video. For ex. on the video "Zomick's Kosher Bakery", you could read about the location details, how this bakery came to be, what is so special about this bakery, what do people love most etc. But this video was not detected by my plugin
On the other hand the "Zomick's Challah Recipe" had a 1 line description with very few information, because this video was a presentation on it's own. You know, there was a commercial etc.
Now, There is no problem with the current successor, and the videos were re-uploaded. But it was a great plugin anyway.
I like the way this location bar is transformed to a breadcrumb, so that explorer feeling is present and whenever I want to back to a parent location, I can do that in an instant. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (5.1.1-signed).
