Works great; some room for improvement Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Clicking the "even more" link every couple of days for me wasn't the end of the world, of course, and it amounted to maybe ten extra seconds, but it's amazing how a little difference in adding extra steps can affect my comfort. Irrational? Absolutely! But there are thousands that have installed this add-on, and probably thousands of others who go "bah" but haven't found this add-on yet.
Long story short, this is great for customizing that top-bar, and no need to type anything. Three strikes against it:
• sometimes it works in gmail, and sometimes it doesn't
• it never works for me in Scholar
• It opens a new tab if the search mode is switched
At the end of the day, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. Hopefully the drawbacks will be addressed in future-updates.
Much Better Than Default; Hides Navigation Toolbar; Respects about:config "browser.fullscreen.animateup" Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This is pretty nice. Changing the about:config setting for browser.fullscreen.animateup to "0" makes it less clunky, in my opinion. Like another reviewer on here, I would also prefer it to pop the toolbars over the content and show the menubar when the mouse goes to the top of the screen, but it's not a huge deal. (I have a trackpad set [to 4 Finger Doubletap] to switch between fullscreen/regular, and it's plenty fast).
Works well in Mountain Lion running Firefox 19.0.2
Turns My Computer into a Serviceable eBook Reader Without Extra Software Rated 4 out of 5 stars
With the fullscreen mode on, (while hiding the navigation toolbar), this addon makes reading actually quite nice.
It would be ideal if it had a search function, and if you could drag the progress bar to end up at a corresponding page, (or be able to select a page by number as opposed to a chapter, and if it gave page numbers). There's also a peculiar bug on my Firefox (19.0.2 for Mac) where the favicon will alternate with the "connecting" title and the respective epub document title.
At the end of the day, the drawbacks don't really hamper the full-screen reading experience, and this add-on is the best method I've found of having an ePub reader without requiring any additional separate applications.
