Much Ado About Nothing Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Seriously, all the fuss that you chicken littles are making over this little Add-on: Windows Update setting changes, patch installs, registry hacks, forum posts, whining, crying, etc.

I've said it before but I think it bears repeating.

* This Add-on helps Firefox launch applications from the browser that were deployed with Microsoft's Click-Once technology (think "kind of like Java applets"), that way you aren't "forced" to use Internet Explorer.

* This Add-on DOES NOT circumvent security

* Technically, this Add-on WAS NOT installed without permission. It was part of a Windows update which, if you received, you gave consent to.

* True, the Add-on cannot be uninstalled through the Add-ons Manager, but it CAN be disabled through it. And for the crybabies, Microsoft provides an update to remove it.

Guess what? There is another extension that was "installed without permission" (so to speak), cannot be removed through the Add-ons manager and also helps apps run from/within the browser. It's called...

Java Quick Starter

But I don't hear anybody b!tching about that one or talking smack about Sun/Oracle. If Microsoft gets your panties all twisted then STOP USING WINDOWS!

Haters gonna hate...

Don't Believe The Hype! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works perfectly. I have an online testing application that requires ClickOnce deployment and it's great having the ability to launch the app from the browser without installing software on the end-users' (test takers) PC. We also have a Java version.

Contrary to all these "chicken little" comments, the current version of this add-on has a WORKING uninstall button, has a WORKING disable button and is no more a security risk than the Java Quick Starter add-on, which is also installed without permission.

The Java Quick Starter add-on cannot be uninstalled yet I don't see anyone bashing Sun. In fact, all the negative publicity is due to the fact that it is Microsoft's add-on.

It's sad to see the completely erroneous tags that people are using for this: hijacker, malware, rootkit behavior. What a joke!

IE Tab

Yes, it is compatible with IE8 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using this add-on for a couple of years now EVERYDAY and can attest to the fact that it works with IE6 all the way to IE8 with ActiveX, etc. I've never had it crash on me and the only complaint is the memory leak, which isn't really that bad. I've never run out of memory and have not had and memory problems in Windows because of it, just big footprints for Firefox.

I tried IE View and found it to be completely useless for my needs. I don't need an add-on to launch IE. I need IE in a tab that I can switch easily and IE Tab provides this. I switched back to IE Tab after 2 minutes of using IE View.

IE View Lite

This is just an overrated program launcher. Why would I need an extension to launch IE. IE Tab is much better even with its memory leak. I'm switching back now.

Funky-fresh... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

dressed to impress; ready to party!!! This is absolutely slick and it's the first time I have given a 5-star review.

The inverted tabs are PERFECT!! Don't change them like @Riki_G says. With the tabs inverted and the active tab being the same background color as the toolbars, they look like they are one and the inactive tabs appear subdued and "behind" everything else. This is how it should be.

If the tabs were in their normal layout, it would break up the top of the browser and make the inactive tabs look like the middle of a toolbar sandwich.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).

Thanks, but no thanks. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Adding a bookmark works, but what then?

This extension doesn't sync Firefox bookmarks with ma.gnolia's so a person still has to log in to ma.gnolia to access their bookmarks.

Thanks for the effort but this extension falls short of usable.
