I seriously don't understand the Firefox devs at all anymore. This isn't quite as perfect as when it was native: natively, it disappeared immediately. With this addon, the tab bar sticks around for about a half second or so after you close the second tab, which is slightly distracting, but infinitely less distracting than if the tab bar stuck around *permanently*, so still, thanks! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0).
Heh. Amusingly, I don't care at all about what this addon was designed for - I'm generally happy displaying most everything as the same size and using unicode. But this finally fixed an issue I'd long had with Firefox, going back many versions, that it kept defaulting back to decoding everything as ISO-8859-1, despite me repeatedly telling it to default to UTF8. So 5 stars for that.
Yay! I just *love* re-adding UI features that got removed from new versions of software for no reason. Had that experience with Visual Studio 2010 earlier this year, and now with FF. Just glad people like you have me covered for fixing them!
Once I got it to display, it works perfectly and makes the 4.0 beta once again useable (which is good; I'm a huge fan of giving UI developers feedback!). I honestly don't think I could survive having to look at my url bar for what-url-is-this mouseovers, not to mention the ugly distracting mouseover animation and complete lack of status updates? Ugh.
Anyway, when I installed the addon, it appeared to do nothing, but after clicking Customize -> "restore default set", everything showed up and seems to be working perfectly. Thanks!
