Great for debugging, works perfect when outputting a JSON content type header. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5).
For all practical purposes, Firebug is right in line with the best of all Firefox extensions for web developers, right there with the Web Developer extension. However, the only thing that keeps me from giving it a 10/10 is that there is a really nasty memory leak in Firebug which causes Firefox to consume 1GB or more of memory after leaving it to run for more than a couple days. It may not be a big deal if you close down your browser every day, but really, this should be found and fixed. Firefox has gained a reputation for being a memory hog, and when it is extensions that are causing the problem, you don't want it to look bad on the Mozilla efforts. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.05).
While this plugin does indeed increase the font size of pages, it does so at the expense of the page layout, and overall doesn't seem to be much of an improvement over the default functionality already available in FireFox. An implementation similar to IE7's wonderful zoom support would be a great addition to Firefox. In IE7, the size of the entire page is increased in proportion, which maintains the layout of the page. Unfortunately, where defined heights and widths are specified in the page design, this plugin falls short in maintaining the page layout. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.3.3).
