No option not to switch to link in new tab Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Firefox has the option to open links in new tabs by using the context menu, but not to switch to them immediately. This add-on disables that option unfortunately and any links the user clicks switch immediately to a new tab.
The developer also mentioned editing "browser.link.open_newwindow" in about:config to achieve the same result as the add-on, but this doesn't work in Firefox 35. Neither does the other one.
Other than that, the add-on works as intended.
Better than the default menu, but needs improvement Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Ever since the demise of OpenBook, I've been struggling with the tiny Add Bookmark dialog box and Edit Bookmark Plus seems to fit the bill.
However, when saving a new bookmark, it always jumps to the "Unsorted bookmarks" folder instead of to the last opened location which becomes a bit irritating after a while.
It's still an improvement on the default Firefox bookmarks menu, but needs to more work to iron out the kinks.
Excellent add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Thank you ungram for creating an extension to reinstate the old style Firefox download manager!
I'd also like to mention that I didn't experience any of the issues UltimateGTR mentioned and normal functions like CTR+W closes the window without any problems on my machine.
Similarly, if I resize the window, it retains the new size and also maintains whatever new position I place it in.
It's the same story with the window remaining closed after the download completes which I also prefer.
An improvement I'd like to see Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I've been using Cookie Monster for a number of years now and generally speaking, it does the job it was designed for.
But I'd like to see the addition of a database to record cookie settings made for different sites because if the user resets Firefox for any reason, it wipes all that data clean. So having reinstalled the add-on after performing a reset last night, I now have to choose which cookie settings I allow for every site I visit all over again.
I looked in the folder called "Old Firefox Data" which a reset saves to the desktop, but couldn't find anything in there which would reinstate my previous cookie settings per site.
Perhaps the developer could oblige by creating a backup file which will be updated automatically and which can be reinstalled if a FF reset is required?
A great addtion to my extensions repertoire! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I was looking for an extension to preview font changes which will save me having to use the Options | Content menu every time and came across "Make Address Bar Font Size Bigger" quite by accident.
It works as described and I'm very happy I don't have to squint anymore especially when browsing at night.
Also, I like the addition of a toolbar button to toggle the font size on and off and the fact that it places itself on the left hand side of the navigation bar and not on the right.
Definitely recommended to anyone who with poor eyesight.
Undesirable effects after updating today Rated 2 out of 5 stars
After updating today, 25 July 2013, all my buttons were gone and the Search Bar reinstated.
In addition, after choosing to use Manual Blocking, the Addons page loaded in Spanish.
So I guess I'm going to uninstall the latest version and go back to using the previous one since I don't want the Ad blocking feature. I've got Adblock Plus for that.
Version 2.0 works perfectly Rated 5 out of 5 stars
The new version resolves the issue with Google Search Tools being blocked as I noted previously and Anti-Adblock now functions correctly. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.0.1-signed).
Upgrade to BETA v2.7.4 Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I posted the problem with v2.70 not working on the Dr. Web forums (English) and they gave me a link to a BETA version v2.7.4 which works OK.
Apparently, the developers are aware of the issue and are working on a fix.
Doesn't work anymore Rated 1 out of 5 stars
I've been using Dr. Web Linkchecker for a couple of years now, but since Firefox 16, it fails to function properly. When right clicking a link, the popup window remains blank rendering it useless as a linkchecker. Using FF17.0 now, but still get the blank popup window. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (188.8.131.52-signed).
How to reinstall a previous version Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I can confirm that the add-on no longer works after updating. But there's no need to create a new profile to fix it. Just scroll to the bottom of the page and click the "Version Information" link. From there, you can reinstall a previous version. Just make sure you uninstall the current one first. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (184.108.40.206.1-signed). Creates a subtle lighting effect Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I've been using Carbone for quite a while now and like the subtle lighting effect it creates. It also gives the Status-4-Evar add-on at the foot of the browser a solid look.
Coupled with the Stylish theme which reinstates the Firefox 13 button style, Carbone is my favourite Persona.
Works on news media sites too! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Not only does the add-on work with the sites the developer listed, but by checkmarking the "Thumbnails" field in the setup options, it will enlarge images on news media sites such as BBCNews which aren't even thumbnails to begin with. It even adds the image description to the enlarged version even if that's not actually visible in the original. In fact, I've yet to find a site where it doesn't work.
This is truly an excellent add-on which is well worth adding to your repertoire.
Useful tool Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Actually, I was able to copy the grey FF logo on the demo page using another add-on I have installed called Thumbnail Zoom Plus, but not the text. So I think RightToClick will be useful for those occasions when I want to copy the latter somewhere. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (220.127.116.11-signed).
You'll love this add-on if you play flash games! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Besides watching videos, this add-on is great for playing flash games as well by dimming all the distractions to the left, right and above or below the game window. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (18.104.22.168.1-signed).
No option to export settings Rated 3 out of 5 stars
I'm a bit disappointed that there's no option to export custom cookie settings. This means that if a user creates a new FF profile, there's no way to export custom cookie settings from one profile to the other. This means that the user will have to recreate them all over again individually when visiting sites that require them.
Other than that, the add-on does the job it was designed for.
Excellent add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Beats all the Youtube audio extractors I've used until now. It doesn't link to a third party site as many others do and performs the conversion to mp3 from within the application itself.
I also like the Scissors utility which allows you to edit where the audio is extracted from. Anyone who has listened to Moby - "Mistake" will know that the video runs for 14 seconds without any audio before the track begins. The Scissors utility allows you to cut that blank part out altogether which is great!
Needs Java now Rated 1 out of 5 stars
The site this add-on links to now requires Java to be installed to extract the audio from a YT video. This is a pity because Java is an application which is continually targeted by attackers and users run unnecessary risks by installing it. Therefore, I cannot recommend it anymore. This user has a previous review of this add-on.
This add-on is superfluous Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Apart from the privacy issues exposed by Sophos, all the functions this add-on offers can be achieved by installing another one called "Flagfox" which is also much better IMHO. To see the IP of the page you're on with Flagfox, simply hover the mouse over the country flag which appears in the location bar. Right click the flag to see other options. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1-signed).
Excellent add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Checking outbound IP addresses which my firewall was reporting this morning, I discovered one of these, namely 22.214.171.124 belonged to Facebook. That perplexed me no end because I disabled my Facebook account three years ago. So how could they be tracking me?
After installing Facebook Disconnect, I went back to the site which was open at the time the outbound connections were being reported and sure enough, up popped the Facebook tracking blocker. So I'm really glad I installed this add-on now.
As a footnote to the previous review by PaulDieKrake who said that the Facebook tracking blocker should always appear, I disagree with that point of view. It would only cause confusion if it appeared even when no tracking data was being transmitted. It works just fine the way it is now IMHO.
Purely a link to third party site Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Links to a third party online conversion site called "video2mp3" which launches immediately when you click the "Save as mp3" button. No time limit imposed by that site, but it is ad supported, so make sure you've got "Adblock Plus" installed otherwise you'll be drowned in ads.
