In a little more detail...
Computers are tools and should make your life easier.
As such, I like simple add-ons that I find are helpful and I can understand.
I love restartless add-ons. +1 star for being restartless. I'm now (26 Nov 20111) going to be subtracting 1 star for simple add-ons that are not restartless.
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Doesn't do much but does it well.
I also tested some of the problems previous reviewers mentioned, I can't repeat any of them.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.6.? using Firefox 13.0.
It's a bummer that the add-on is so good. I like to give an extra star for restartless add-ons but I can't give it 6 stars so I'll contribute less to the average rating than I'd like.
Wonderful Rated 5 out of 5 stars
If you like keyboard browsing, or don't like mouse browsing, this add-on does a great job.
Only minus I found is that numbering is a bit slow and can mess up layout of pages such as gmail. But gmail is one of the most complex sites out there.
The add-on works out of the box but has loads of options if you want to tweak it.
Doesn't Do What I Thought But It Doesn't Do IT With Grace And Style Rated 5 out of 5 stars
My misreading or not, I was surprised with what this add-on did. It hides the Add-on Toolbar until you mouse over the lower-right corner. (I think the description should be more accurate and have contacted the author so, by the time you read this it may be fixed and you'll just wonder "What was he thinking?")
I only like to hide things that I don't use very often. I view the add-ons toolbar as a status bar so I want access to often and simply. I also have a 17" monitor on my laptop with great resolution so the few extra lines the add-on toolbar uses doesn't bother me.
So I have uninstalled this add-on.
That being said, I know that there are other users who like to hide and unhide parts of the browser's UI automatically. If you're one of those users, I think this is a great add-on.
While it didn't do something I liked, everything about it, including the external website, felt professional and skillful.
I have my searchbar in my add-on bar and this add-on didn't seem to deal with that well,
Overall impression: 5 stars
Search bar problem -1 star
Restartless add-on: +1 star (I love restartless add-ons, I always add 1-star for them).
If you like this UI model, IMO, you can't go wrong with this add-on.
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
It is 4 stars because it really needs alternate sorting criteria.
That being said, I've decided that restartless is the way to go and I'm looking to move to 100% restartless ASAP as best as I can.
I'd love to see stylish, keyconfig, and scriptish (another of your add-ons - you are like so my hero) incorporated into FF. Chrome really leap-frogged FF when it made Scriptish/GreaseMonkey scripts first-class browser extensions.
So, I'm adding 1 star to useful restartless add-ons (in this instance, useless is defined as an extension that I find useful).
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
This add-on's sole purpose is to disable a security fix. That being said, I hate the stinkin' delay and missed MR TECH's add-on when I moved to FF5.
So I thank you for the add-on. Recommend everyone to never use this add-on as it introduces a security problem. And I give the add-on 5 stars because it just does what it does without a problem.
If I could, I'd give it six stars, the extra star for being a restartless add-on.
Just Works Rated 5 out of 5 stars
It just works. Combined with PermaTab Mod you can read in a all the results from a giant search and keep them around while you search through them. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2008.6.20).
Looks Good & Conserves Screen Real-Estate Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Looks good, gives you extra screen real-estate, reduces toolbar space. I use the extra space to add more toolbars, more toolbar buttons (via the "Toolbar Buttons" extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2377)) which I organize with flexible spaces so I can group like buttons together. And there a (relatively) new options addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6969) that allows you to keep the compact size but modify the look-and-feel.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.0.9).
(title omitted due to this add-on being beyond words) Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Hard to review X-Ray while, at the same time, trying not to sound like a crazed sychophant. I'll try to let pictures do most of the talking.
I had a web page, I broke it, I turned on X-Ray, now my grandmother could figure up what is wrong with it. See the screen snapshot at http://www.smithline.net/images/Firefox_X-Ray_add-on.png. Notice how the border on the right doesn't line up the way the border on the left does. X-Ray shows exactly which DIV tag is incorrect. This was my first time using X-Ray (or is it "taking an X-Ray"?) and I suspect it just saved me 20-90 minutes. If the developer's home page has a contribute button I'm going to throw him a few bucks just for my saved time.
Note: my lo-res capture made some letters hard to read. This was done to keep the image size small. The original looks fine.
Nice add-on - be careful removing Rated 4 out of 5 stars
This add-on adds a single new feature, the ability to make a tab "permanent". You can't delete it (no "X" on it or "close tab" menu option) and even a restart won't make it go away. Love it for my GMail inbox and home page.
The only problem is that if you remove it (I had to temporarily remove it for administrative problems), be sure you have no permanent tabs left. Because, the tabs stay permanent but you have no way to disable it. Probably a bug but only a minor one as you can reinstall, uncheck the "permanent tab" menu item, and then re-remove it.
