Foreground, Not Background Rated 2 out of 5 stars
This is my third attempt to comment BrowserBackground, because the other two previous ones were deleted days after they were published. I do not know why and would like to be informed to correct the error that I may be making. My analysis is just to say that the concept of this extension is inaccurate because BB hides all the buttons of the original about:home and about:newtab being thus an addon that fulfills the task of being foreground and not background. BB is well done and works, but it can still be more developed.
The Closest So Far of Joseph del Rio's Speed-Dial Rated 4 out of 5 stars
You can not hide home/account/option buttons on dial page and there is no numbering of dials and groups, or shortcuts to access them directly. But it is a very beautiful extension and the visual possibilities are diverse with colors gradient. For the future, it would be great to have more style options, such as right-angle corners, active tab of the same color as the active group, navigation between dials/groups by directional keys, backup of dials/settings, and option to do not overwrite default pages (newtab and home). This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5).
Too Lite Rated 2 out of 5 stars
You can only customize the amount of dials, their colors, their spacing and their url, but not their aspect ratio, size, title, background image. The background image of the table are not automatically changed and a configuration box is affixed above the dialers even out of configuration mode. There is no option to exclude scrollbars, or to increase or decrease margins between the dials and the browser border. The imosibility of group tabs bothers, but is within the concept of being a clean addon, which can not be said of the other characteristics. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.1.2).
Come Back Better Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Sad. One of the most downloaded and commented addons, without an update for so long. Suggestions on return: 1 - Close multikey only when the enter key launches the dialer; 2 - Multikey for tabs as well as for dialers; 3 - Navigation of dialers via directional keys; 4 - Independent customization of groups via css. 5 - Dialers with animated gifs and not just static images; 6 - Popup comment option for each dialer; 7 - Preset visual styles, with greater flexibility of buttons, titles and formats; 8 - Option to organize dialers as to organize groups, instead of simply exchanging one for another without relocating the others; 9 - Transparency in the background color of the group tabs to visualize the background image of the group; 10 - Small clickable areas on the four ends of each dialer, customizable with text or image. Thank for your good work. This user has 4 previous reviews of this add-on.
Do Not Shows Images Rated 1 out of 5 stars
This addon was really amazing ... when it worked. But since FF25, it loads indefinitely without showing any image. A great loss, since the similar ones, besides few, do not do even half of what WSSE did.
Very Perverse! Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Great tool. To reach perfection, it would only be necessary to make the url bar icons movables. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.6.5).
Nobuoka! Nobuoka!! Nobuoka!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Please... 1 - Add a separate button to AppLauncher and liberate it from context menu. 2 - Enable customized icons and shortkeys to the applications list. Your addon is the only one in the FF community that can open everything in everything. Do not leave us, Nobuoka!
Does Not Work to External Players Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Smart and practical addon. But does not work when you open a url in external player. Usually we open a URL in most players by Ctrl+U. Are there any special parameter to open a url in a player from the browser? Luckily I can to solve this problem with the AppLauncher addon. This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Abusive Restrictions Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Yes, DVH was the best downloader until version which came to impose the installation of a converter for high quality videos, supposedly because some sites only make it available with separate audio and video. Therein VDH breaks Firefox philosophy, preventing the user from making the conversion with software of his choice by downloading the files separately. Simply you can not download them without paying for it. But it is at this point that we can research and find better alternatives without restrictions and which are worth making a cash donation, as Download YouTube to MP4, from ialc. Unfortunately, it only works for YouTube, but is being updated within the FF philosophy and can certainly be expanded in the future. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (5.4.2).
Like del Rio's SD Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Multi pages for five stars. This user has a previous review of this add-on.
Too Good to So Few Editions Rated 4 out of 5 stars
It's the best speed dial if you choose the right version according to the version of your browser. Unfortunately, it is already nearly a decade ago in the version 0.x which makes some outdated or complicated functions, especially when you want customize the thumbnails styles adding them information or comments. I hope we have news soon, as other similar addons are always updating, without ever achieving the flexibility and usability of Speed-Dial.This user has other reviews of this add-on.
Please, Multipages! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Nice, simple, soft, customizable, but when we'll can have a multipage option? For those who need many dialers is unpleasant having to use the scroll bars or decrease the thumbnail size. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.6.17.1-signed). Don't Works to History Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Great job, but would be much better if it works in history too.
Almost Perfection Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Great Job, but some suggestions to get five stars... 1 - More softness in events (open/close bar, start/cancel downloads). 2 - Movables bar buttons and button to minimize bar to window browser. 3 - Context menu controls of download boxes inserted into the preview pane. 4 - Skin customization of download boxes and bar (straight/rounded edges, bar background color, shadows and high/low relief to bar, downboxes and progressbars). This review is for a previous version of the add-on (126.96.36.199-signed).
Really The Best, for Now Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Thank you for return to the way of Download Statusbar! DMS3 is the best, but to go on like this, I suggest you set download controls (buttons) within the preview balloon, because then it does not take one more click to open the context menu, which is only recommended for the options general. In the future, consider enable further customization of the skin, such as font color, relief bar and downloads. Great job, worth the donation! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.09.1-signed).
Lack Little to Perfection Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I use several dial extensions for various purposes: SiteLauncher for more accessed; SpeedDial for bookmarks; FastDial for movies; SuperStart for music. Each complete what is lacking in the other, but SuperStart has been the extension that brings together the three main characteristics that I seek: lightness, beauty and configurability. If I could suggest improvements, would be only three:
1 - multi-pages horizontally on the SuperStart page to end the annoying scroll bars;
2 - navigation between dialers by Down/Up/Left/Right keys and possibility to configure the size of the dialers, not just the quantity of them;
3 - configurability of the themes, because only editing the xpi file I can merge the features of LaunchPad theme with SilverLight theme.
Anyway, SuperStart has great potential and its creator is to be congratulated.
Organized, Beautiful, but Don't Export nor Store Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Many shortcuts and easily configurable. But from time to time it's necessary to reset shortcuts, one at a time. Export and import settings should be standard for all firefox extensions, but unfortunately it does not. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.5.11.1.1-signed).
Nothing is so good that it can not be improved Rated 4 out of 5 stars
It's the most configurable extension to launch anything. But would be amazing if it could also display animated gifs in each dial and choose the icon of each dial, as already allows to choose the title, image, etc..This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.6.16.1-signed). Well Done, But Limited Rated 3 out of 5 stars
Positive: objective and easy.
Negative: Just opens other programs empty, and not the site content in this programs. Keeps all buttons in a row, but not organized in a menu.
Suggestions: Enable to open site content directly by the created button. Arrange buttons in a single menu, with possibility to choice a button as priority in the list.
No Ctrl-Shift-Alt shortcut combinations starting from version 2.7.0. Rated 4 out of 5 stars
Until version 2.6.0 were possible over 80 shortcuts to sites using SiteLauncher. But this version does not work anymore starting from Firefox 25. It has been replaced by version 2.7.0, what limits shortcuts to the alphabetic keyboard only. Thus, without the numeric keyboard and without the possibility to use Shift-Ctrl-Alt keys, the shortcuts are now limited to the number 26. If you're looking for velocity and configurability for your shortcuts, the solution may be SpeedDial and FastDial extensions. SiteLauncher was a great idea, despite being focused more on beauty than on functionality. We hope that the changes will not remain in this limitative way, because it would be a great loss. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (188.8.131.52-signed).
