This extension helped me reinstall Tidy Read on Firefox 25.0. As yet, I have no problems.
Update October 2013Recently Reader does not work on many sites as it once did. This is a sad development as I really loved this add on. I wonder if the problem is with Firefox, or with webpage developers who are remaking pages to fit on portable devices-- ?
I wonder if I haven't subverted Reader with another add on that conflicts with it. I have tried many tweaks, and nothing is working.
Will keep checking-- hope Reader becomes as reliable as it once was.
At Firefox 20.0-- I still miss Miint!!
It was tasteful and elegant with a green that was easy on the eyes. The icons were sensible too.
This is a great add-on-- well designed and easy to tailor to one's own taste.
The way it has been evolving, I think Firefox is being spoiled on purpose. At least with this add-on I can pretend that I still have choices.
I will NOT use Google Chrome-- I do not trust Google.
In 2012 I wrote:
Next to Flash Block, this is my favorite add-on I do not like Firefox 9.0 because Tidy Read does not work in it yet.
Here is an update. Since Tidy Read was not updating along with Firefox, I eventually left it to use the Reader add-on-- which was quite elegant, but again, became increasingly unstable with new Firefox updates.
Out of frustration, I returned to read the comments here, along with older suggestions to keep Tidy Read, which I am following at my own supposed hazard.
With the help of the checkCompatibility extension-- I have been able to reinstate Tidy Read, and am using it on Firefox 25.0.
Thus far, I haven't been bothered by any problems. It seems that Tidy Read does exactly what it was intended to do. I cannot understand at all why it is not routinely offered with later firefoxes.
Again I would like to say thanks for Tidy Read!
