Google Redirects Fixer & Tracking Remover

Exactly what it says on the tin. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Not only does this fix links on the main search page, it also fixes those rage-inducing image search redirect notices -- which were my main reason for trying it. Thanks!

Regarding zeroxia's question: I have also noticed that copying the link location gives you the redirect URL -- but I'm pretty sure that clicking on the link uses the direct URL.

If you look at the page source, it looks like the href property of the a element is rewritten by the extension, but there is additionally a data-cthref property which is not rewritten. I'm not sure why copying the URL would pick up this property and not the href. Perhaps the extension should rewrite this property as well?

SearchLoad Options

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

It's worse than I initially realised -- if I select the preference for loading results in background tabs, middle-clicking makes them load *in the current tab*, which effectively reverses normal Firefox behaviour.

I've looked at the code, and it looks like middle-click is treated as one of several possible modifiers which change the loading behaviour. Holding down the shift key modifies it in a different way. The modifications seem to be pretty random and unpredictable:

current tab pref + left click: current tab
current tab pref + shift: background tab
current tab pref + middle click: foreground tab

(That looks like standard Firefox behaviour.)

foreground tab pref + left click: foreground tab
foreground tab pref + shift: background tab
foreground tab pref + middle click: current tab

background tab pref + left click: background tab
background tab pref + shift: foreground tab
background tab pref + middle click: current tab

There seems to be no way to make a middle click load something in a background tab (without holding shift), and the reversal of middle-click behaviour if either of the new tab options is set effectively makes this extension unusable for me.

SearchLoad Options

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I am very happy to have found this add-on, since a recent version of Firefox has changed the behaviour of the search bar and effectively made it impossible to load search results in background tabs.

I have one criticism: this add-on does not appear to handle middle-clicks on the search button, so when I middle-click, firefox just falls back to its default behaviour, which is to open the result in a new *foreground tab*, which is exactly what I don't want.

Please allow users to set both left-click and middle-click behaviour, and to do it separately -- that would also allow people who sometimes want to open results in a new tab and sometimes in the same tab to continue to use left-click and middle-click to distinguish between these cases.

I seldom want to open results in the same tab, but I am used to middle-clicking on anything I want to open in a new tab, because that is the standard behaviour of most elements -- and I think many other users are too.

Xhosa spell checker

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I installed it, it didn't break anything, and it recognised the Xhosa words I pasted from Wikipedia as a test. I don't speak Xhosa, so I can't speak for the quality of the dictionary, but I encountered no technical problems.
