My Reviews

Privacy +

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Ty Evans is at it again. Is this guy for real?! Would he like a list of programs that do the very thing he disputes?! Better Privacy is the better choice but Privacy+ does work.

BetterPrivacy

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Ty Evans is talking out of his rear. I find no evidence of flash cookies remaking themselves once deleted. The only way would be if the user revisits the website that placed them there to begin with. Set Better Privacy to delete DOM Storage, delete flash cookies every two seconds, and delete the ENTIRE "macromedia" file. Even if flash cookies did reproduce themselves without revisiting the same website, those settings ensure they are not in your system long. Mr. Evans also gave a review on TACO with the same message. Credibility destroyed! TACO does not delete flash cookies or block any cookies for that matter. TACO opts you out from receiving them. If Mr. Evans was truly an expert, he would not have left a review for a flash cookie cleaner for a program not even designed to do so.

I do not trust this add-on. My internet provider re-installed itself and when I go online, I have two instances of Internet Explorer being disabled by DEP(Data Execution Prevention), one of which should not launch at all. It is normal for one to do so but not two. It does speed up browsing but I am seeing suspicious behaviour in my system even after uninstalling it from Firefox. Watch out!

NoScript Security Suite

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I like this extension(add-on) but I feel it REALLY needs only one thing as an improvement: you should not have to restart Firefox to totally disable it. I have tried using the "whitelist" and all settings to deactivate No Script("allow scripts globally, etc.") and it still will block things I really need to access(buttons in e-mails,etc.). Quick Java and Quick JS are not as complete of protection as No Script but they can be disabled, without restart, with a button in the status bar with just one click. This is something to think about, Mr. Maone. Others are using these extensions more than No Script due to their simplicity and speed. I hope the developer puts this in mind into the next release. Excelsior!

PLEASE update this to FF 3.7! I hope it is soon!

BetterPrivacy

Check this file as well because Better Privacy does not:drive c>users>default>appdata>roaming>macromedia. Anything in the "macromedia" file are LSO's and should be deleted immediately. Better Privacy covers drive c>users>(your computer name)>appdata>roaming>macromedia and deletes the LSO'S in that file according to how Better Privacy is configured. It also deletes DOM Storage. IE8 has the option in the "advanced" section of "internet options" in Windows to "enable DOM Storage". Leave it blank to disable DOM Storage. Use Quick Java in Firefox to disable or enable Java and Javascript when needed. Only enable Java and Javascript if the website you are viewing is business, not entertainment. If it is video online, chances are, without Better Privacy, and without manual clearing of drive c>users>default>appdata>roaming>macromedia file, you have LSO's. Delete them quickly to ensure, every pun intended, Better Privacy.

Check these files in your computer:drive c>users>default>appdata>roaming>macromedia and drive c>users>(your computer name)>appdata>roaming>macromedia. Anything after "macromedia"(in that file) are LSO's and you must delete them NOW. Better Privacy deletes the second file I listed. The first file IT DOES NOT. Delete the first file's LSO's manually using right-click context menu's "delete" option. Use Quick Java(here at Mozilla's website) as an add-on to disable Java and Javascript to begin with(LSO's cannot get in that way). Only enable Java and Javascript if the website you are using calls for it and it is something important, not just entertainment. This will keep you safe and your computer private. Have a good one!
