In a little more detail...
My name is Kennedy Frank and currently am working as Technical Coordinator of Open Kiswahili Localization Project (Kilinux).
Kilinux an Open Kiswahili Localization Project started by Department of Computer Science (DoCS - University of Dar es salaa,) in collaboration with staff from Institute of Kiswahili Research (IKR - University of Dar es salaam), Tanzania National Kiswahili Council BAKITA ) and College of Engeneering and Technology (COET)
The project has gathered a multidisciplinary team composed by members of the Department of Computer Science, IKR, BAKITA and the Institute of Kiwahili Research. This pioneering effort does not only aim to localize free and open source software to the Swahili language, but also create awareness among Kiswahili speakers of the benefits of using and extending open source software.
The project released two Kiswahili products (Jambo Mozilla Firefox and Jambo OpenOffice.org) and currenlty, the project release Jambo Mozila Firefox 3.5 and the available language pack is sw-TZ-3.5.1pre
"Free Software in Kiswahili. It can be done, play your part."
