The upgrade path needs improvement Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Upgrading was much more difficult than I expected.
First off, I didn't know it needed upgrading. My extension page was very happy to continue letting me use 6.5 with no notification otherwise. I only went looking for upgrades when music downloads stopped working.
Since hitting update hadn't worked, I went directly to the developer's site to redownload BVD but it gave me an xpi named Yontoo Layers. I read the whole FAQ, finally find out what that is, install Yontoo and restart. Still doesn't work.
Confused, I came here where I read the same description that says 6.5 is the latest version BUT -aha- the latest version is actually 6.7! So my update button lied when it said BVD 6.5 was up to date. ok. I install BVD again (mind you I never UNinstalled it) and now my state is: Yontoo Layers installed, and BVD at version 6.7.
To be safe, I empty my cache, and restart my browser. I load up that youtube page again, and hit the button to download the m4a. AAAND! It tells me I need to upgrade. So I sit for a while as things chug and do some other invisible upgrading thing I somehow have missed.
THEN, after all that, it finally did work.
I just needed to let everyone know, holy cr*p, upgrading is a terror but it did eventually work, at least on mac. Eventually. I hope my experience helps someone. and I hope the developer reads this and has an idea why so many people are complaining that things suddenly don't work and don't appear readily fixable.

I love Tab Utilities and will start using it again the second there's a solution to this:
FF 7.0.1 on OSX 10.6.8, tab utilities 1.1 has a broken "move to group" function. the groups menu contains only "new group" and not the list of groups. I tested with a new profile and only tab utilities 1.1 installed, using 3 groups. right click a tab and choose move to group. no groups listed in the menu.
Nothing else compares to Tab Utilities. It's the best tab config ext out there.
Developer says "No more updates" Rated 3 out of 5 stars
From the developer's site at http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/tabsidebar
Unfortunately I am no longer planning on updating my extensions. Short of some kind of critical security issue it is unlikely this extension will receive any updates in the future.
For similar features, try Firefox Showcase, which is still actively maintained by the same developer who does Speed Dial.
