Absolutely invaluable addon if you want to re-enable useful features that have been removed from FF.
I couldn't believe Mozilla got rid of BrowseByName support. Them killing the AwesomeBar was annoying me to no end.
Only negative - this addon adds search engines that you don't need to your search engine list. (But they are trivial to remove.)
Just another addon to add to my pile of 40. (Which correct things that Mozilla has broken/removed over the years.)
Very useful addon, for when Mozilla devs screw up yet another feature that we've gotten used to and that made sense. (Vertical screen space is rather important...)
I've got 11 addons to restore features that I liked that they took away with no option to restore. I don't know of any other company that likes to mess up things so much, except maybe Microsoft when they removed the Start button from Windows entirely.
A useful convenience addon. You can re-enable browse by name by going into about:config and changing keyword.URL to "http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=", but installing this is simpler.
MemChaser works well enough, but it's very obviously an alpha. The memory usage seems accurate. Although it doesn't match Task Manager (lol), it does match Process Explorer, and that's what matters.
It'd be handy if it implemented the functionality of this addon, saving me an addon:
They definitely need to fix the little red button. I don't want in in the bottom right. I either want to disable it or throw it in the menubar along with all the memory information. Resetting the position constantly is just downright annoying. I already have 20 other little icons down there from other addons that insist on throwing crap in the statusbar. (Or, sorry, it's an "Addonbar" now)
Well, MemChaser looks like it'll help.
First off, ignore all the reviewers rating it low and complaining about its accuracy. Task Manager is a joke as far as accuracy. The numbers I'm seeing line up extremely closely with Process Explorer. (A tool which isn't a joke)
I like this addon. For whatever reason, Firefox leaks up past 2GB within a few hours - but this addon serves as a visual reminder to restart it occasionally.
IMO the main things that would make it better are numbers over the top-icon and the option to remove/hide the status-bar numbers. Being able to turn on/off the restart confirmation (individually) would also be nice.
GPL violators aren't cool. If you take from the open source community, you also give back. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (5.1).
By default Firefox ignores the user setting to use windows only, and instead uses tabs for... update info, addon info, and restoring websites after a crash.
This is a handy addon for anyone that dislikes tabs and prefers windows. I myself wouldn't mind tabs, except that... they're not next to the task bar, and the close buttons are harder to click - especially when dealing with 80+ tabs.
Unfortunately, this addon broke with Firefox 3. Some websites(such as www.notebookforum.at ) will begin generating dozens of error messages per second after closing them. I have observed the same behaviour with some popup windows. The errors slow firefox down, forcing you to restart it after visiting such sites.
I look forward to the next version. Hopefully it will fix this issue.
