ColorfulTabs

Essential Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Been using this for years. If you want fancy tabs, there are plenty of other add-ons to do that for you. Simple yet elegant, ColorfulTabs shouldn't be an add-on, but a minimum feature of *all* browsers! - Couldn't work properly without it!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.8).

Firefly

Heartbreaking Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I So want to LOVE this add-on. Thanks to various extensions, in FireFox I have an embedded email client, embedded IM, embeded control of my music and video, an embedded image animation tool, embedded RSS feeds, embedded note-taking and scrapbooking, intelligent highlighting and citation tools, embedded in situ web editing tools, multiple tabs and tab groups for information and organisation and resource management, an embedded archive manager, an embedded multilingual spell checker. I can create custom buttons to perfom any action I like. I can create shortcuts to files and applications on my system. I can develop extensions and websites from within FireFox, search fro anything in any tab, see what time it is anywhere in the World, create PDFs, diarise, make lists of todos or events with reminders and alarms, share information with others anywhere in the World at the click of a button, create RRS feeds for sites that don't even have one ... I almost need never use another application ever again! ... One of the few things I *can't* do in FireFox is manage my file system effectively and efficiently. FireFly *should* let me do that. It would be *wonderful* if it did ... But it doesn't :( Even without any of my other ad-ons enabled, it behaves erratically ... frequently refusing to allow me to navigate back to where I cam from ... randomly changing directory ... even randomly opening and displacing other content in other tabs, without warning ... And I'm heartbroken about it ... I was SO excited when I discovered it ... (here was the answer to my problem) ... But I not only can't rely on it, it actually disrupts my workflow! ... I'm SO disappointed, I almost wish I'd never found it ... (at least then I wouldn't know what I'm missing)- Please, PLEASE fix it so that it can be all that it *could* be ... It's SUCH a fantastic idea and has SO much promise!

Default FullZoom Level

Essential Viewing! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I test lots and LOTS of extensions ... (currently 139, to give you some idea). Very few make the grade and stay installed. Default Full Zoom Level will though - My browser space is taken up with so many of the essential multiple sidebars, toolbars, statusbars, RSS feeds and so on, that I need in order to research, take notes, scrapbook, highlight, link to citations and references, find related information, communicate and so on that there's almost no room left to see the actual content! ... Default Full Zoom level sorts that issue out for me, making it possible to have all the necessary information management tools in view at all times, whilst still being able to see the information they're designed to help me make effective use of. Thankyou VERY much! Default Full Zoom Level is essential viewing ... Quite literally!

Glazoom

Essential companion to Default Full Zoom Level Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I test lots and LOTS of extensions ... (currently 139, to give you some idea). Very few make the grade and stay installed. Along with Default Full Zoom Level, though, Glazoom will. - My browser space is taken up with so many of the essential multiple sidebars, toolbars, statusbars, RSS feeds and so on, that I need in order to research, take notes, scrapbook, highlight, link to citations and references, find related information, communicate and so on that there's almost no room left to see the actual content! ... Default Full Zoom level sorts that issue out for me most of the time, but sometimes the default is just unworkable on certain pages ... I can change that level, naturally, but that affects *all* pages, rendering a lot of them equally as unusable afterwards, so I need to keep changing it backwards and forwards as I flick between the various sources of information ... Glazoom saves me from that trouble ... The default is fine for most pages and Glazoom saves the day for those pages that just don't work at that zoom level. An absolutely essential companion tool. Thankyou VERY much!

InFormEnter

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

So, SO useful! A godsend. THANKYOU! - I test a LOT of add-ons ... (currently 139 installed and testing). VERY few make the grade and stay installed for long, never mind forever, but InFormEnter is gonna be right up there with those very few. Once again, thankyou ... You've made my life SO much easier!

Open In RegEdit

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Outstanding! ... Why has no-one done this before!? Like 'Text Link', it's such a mind-bendingly simple idea, yet so stunningly essential you have to wonder why it wasn't developed sooner! No more copy, hunt through the registry, double click, return to the webpage to copy the value, return to RegEdit to find that the highlight has gone, return to the webpage to find out what the key was again (*sigh*) - Just highlight the value, CTRL+C, right-click, Open In RegEdit, paste. Fantastic!

Text Link

The most significant thing to hapen to happen to the Web since javascript Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Truly outstanding! I test a LOT of add-ons ... (I currently have 139 installed, just to give you an idea) ... Very few make the grade and stay installed for long, never mind forever ... (NoScript springs to mind) ... but Text Link is destined to be one such. It's such a mind-bendingly simple idea, yet so stunningly essential you have to wonder why it isn't a default behaviour in *all* browsers! No copy and paste ... no right click and 'send to' like other add-ons that claim to achieve the same thing, but are really no more than a glorified 'copy and paste' function - This one runs rings around the others and is basically, IMO, the most significant thing to happen to the Web since javascript ... (It means no more hyperlinks will ever be needed again - Truly amazing!)

Tabgroups-Plus

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I test a LOT of add-ons ... (To give you some idea, I currently have 139 installed) ... Very few make the grade and are considered essential, but after NoScript, TabGroups has been the first add-ons I install in any fresh install of FF for years now. It doesn't look pretty and it has limited functionality ... (no re-ordering, for instance and you can't opt to right-click and open a page in a new tab in a named tab group, which would be the icing on the cake for me) ... but it's absolutely essential for anyone who doesn't need space taken up in their otherwise occupied sidebar ... or a limit of five rows of ten tabs (or whatever). It's neat, compact and does exactly what it says on the tin; no more, no less ... So, finding that TabGroups has been taken on and is being devloped further makes me very happy indeed and I'm looking foward to the extra functionality and eye-candy that will surely arrive with time. If you aren't already using this add-on then do yourself a favour and install it - You might think you don't need it, because you don't have that many tabs open at a time, but that's not it's real purpose ... What it's really for is to allow you to organise your workflow properly and group things together by theme, rather than having everything jumbled up together (one tab for email and social networking, one for research, one tab for all the home insurance sites you're looking at, one for all the hotel sites for when you go on holiday, one for YouTube, etc.) ... You see? You *do* need it really :)

Textarea Cache

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I wish I'd found this sooner! For someone like me, who writes frequently ... (and writes 3000 words, four or five times a day) ... this is a lifesaver! - It saved me from having to rewrite 2,508 words once today already ... And I'm looking forward to it doing it again tomorrow! :D

CS Lite

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I only discovered this recently, but, boy am I glad I did! It is to cookies what NoScript is to ... well ... scripts ... (And I consider NoScript to be essential) - CS Lite is the perfect companion to NoScript and just as essential

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.9).

NoScript Security Suite

Absolutely essential! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

And I mean *absolutely* ESSENTIAL! This shouldn't be an add-on, but an intrinsic element, it's that important. It's the first thing I install on any FF installation - If I find someone who *hasn't* got it installed, I install it for them!

Superb! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I test a *lot* of add-ons ... (I currently have 139 installed, to give you some idea) ... And this is quite simply amongst the best there are. I didn't know how much I needed this until I installed it. Now I couldn't live without it!
