Firefox Interest Dashboard

Make sure you read the Privacy Policy of this add-on before installing it Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This negative review will possibly be deleted, just like the previous ones from other users, but I'll post it anyway.

This is straight from the Privacy Policy of this add-on:
"Data Sharing and Retention:
While you have the Add-on installed, your Interest data may be shared with publishers and content recommendation and discovery partners participating in this Add-on so such partners may return to you recommendations and content based on your Interests. Unless you expressly consent, these third party partners will not have access to your Interests. For clarity, these partners only have access to your Interest data if you install the Add-on and will no longer have access to your Interest data if you uninstall the Add-on."

Mozilla, I have long been a fan of your products. Firefox is my main browser and Thunderbird is my only e-mail program. But the last couple of years are showing you may have lost focus. I understand that you're desperate to stop losing market share to Chrome and to make Mozilla less dependent from Google's money. But this is not how it's done.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.8).

Mnenhy

It's working again! - And now it doesn't :( Rated 5 out of 5 stars

UPDATE:

Happiness was fleeting indeed :)
Mnenhy 0.8.6 worked with Thunderbird until TB was updated to version 31. At least the custom headers feature of Mnenhy 0.8.6 (the one I use most) doesn't work anymore with Thunderbird 31.
So we're stuck with TB 24.* until Mnenhy's developer can update it to work with the latest versions of Thunderbird (crossing fingers! ;) )
Anyway, I'm keeping the five stars for this review because Mnenhy is such a great add-on.

--------

I can confirm that the new version of Mnehny (0.8.6) works perfectly with Thunderbird 24. Thanks, Karsten!!!!

MRC Compose

Great add-on!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on, that corrects one of Thunderbird's most evident flaws in the "Compose" window. I've wished for a long time for something like this (which should have been Thunderbird's default, actually) and now I can finally manage recipients for my messages in a much more efficient way. I would have rated this add-on with five stars if it weren't for a small bug that I've just come across. Hopefully, it can be corrected by the developer. The symptom is this: every time I try to send a message, for some reason Thunderbird complains that "There is no TO recipient, only CC/BCC". This is obviously not the case, as I can see that there is indeed a TO recipient. And if I ignore the warning and "send it anyway", the message is sent without issues. I don't know what is triggering this warning. I'm running Thunderbird 17.0.8 (locale es-AR) on Windows XP (Windows also in Spanish). By the way, the warning text is displayed in English, which is neither my Thunderbird's nor my Windows' language, so I'm guessing the warning is caused by this (or maybe another?) add-on

(UPDATED with bug symptoms and system information)

BTW, I just tested the bug described in the comment below mine (the bug with the attachments) and I can't reproduce it. I'm not seeing the attachment being incorrectly added to message #2

---------------

UPDATE 2:

Eureka! I've found the cause of the bug that I was experiencing. This add-on is found "Not guilty" and therefore its rating increased to some well-deserved 5 stars :)
The "guilty" add-on is Flexible Identity (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/flexible-identity/). It has an option that displays a warning "if there is no TO (only CC/BCC) recipients". Unfortunately, it seems that these two add-ons (MRC Compose and Flexible Identity) are mutually incompatible. Flexible Identity simply doesn't work when MRC Compose is being used :(
I hope this incompatibility can be fixed, because I'd hate having to choose between one or the other.

WikiLook

Bug fix for Firefox 20+ Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It looks like, sadly, Wikilook's development has stopped. And recent changes in Firefox mean that Wikilook is no longer working as it used to.
Fortunately, user Alan Stewart has posted a working fix at Wikilook's Support page (http://groups.google.com/group/wikilook).
In case you don't have access to that Support page, I'm copying the fix here so more people have access to it:

------
In the file chrome/wikilook/content/wikilook.js line 4746 is not valid syntax in the newer javascript engine:

globalPackageWL.WikiLook_Overlay.PMaker.WLWTajaxCallbackImpl(res.expandtemplates.*);

Changing that line to an alternate equivalent syntax:

globalPackageWL.WikiLook_Overlay.PMaker.WLWTajaxCallbackImpl(res.expandtemplates['*']);

works for me - all of wikilook is functional with ff21
------

All credit for this fix should go to Alan Stewart, I'm just copying his solution here.

UnloadTab

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very useful add-on. It's not perfect, but the few shortcomings are not enough to deduct a star from the rating.
May I suggest a couple of improvements?
- Display of total number of loaded and unloaded tabs
- Menu option to temporarily load all tabs (until browser restart?)
- Menu option to temporarily unload all (other) tabs
- Load tabs progressively (like Firefox's default, 3 at a time) at browser start, instead of all "loadable" tabs at the same time. Ideally the number of tabs to be loaded concurrently could be user-selectable.

Fasterfox Lite

DO NOT INSTALL!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Beware!!! This is a SPYWARE add-on, that now belongs to a company named Wips.com. DO NOT INSTALL this add-on, it sends that company information about every web page you visit.
It is clearly stated on their privacy policy, although sadly few people care to read that: "WIPS.COM'S EXTENSION SERVICE COLLECTS AND STORES INFORMATION ABOUT THE WEB PAGES YOU VIEW. IN SOME CASES, INFORMATION COLLECTED BY THE EXTENSION SERVICE MAY BE PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE". And also: "When you use the Extension Service, we collect information about the websites you visit, the searches you perform using search engines and when you use the "search" function of the Extension Service, the ways in which you use various Extension Service features (including whether the Extension Service is still installed on your computer), and the pages you view"

QuickFilterToolbar

Excellent Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on! I've been wanting to be able to hide the QuickFilter bar ever since I started using Thunderbird, but I didn't want to lose the QuickFilter search box. Now I can hide the bar AND keep the search box! Any and all of the elements of the Quickfilter bar can be freely moved to other toolbars.
Also, this add-on is surprisingly feature-rich and bug-free for a 1.0 release. Good job by the developer!

Google Tasks Sync

Wrong date Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a great and very promising add-on. I've just tried it and, after allowing Thunderbird to accept cookies, it works. However, I'm seeing a strange bug when synchronizing tasks with Google: the date of the task on TB and on Google differ by 1 day. So if I set a due date for a task on Google on December 18th, that same task shows the due date as December 17th on Thunderbird. The due date for any task on Google is always 1 day after than the date that I see on TB. It doesn't matter if I create the task on Thunderbird or on Google, the due dates always differ by 1 day. Quite strange, but hopefully easily correctable.

Edit Bookmark Plus

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on! It's a much needed replacement to Openbook. It greatly simplifies adding bookmarks and organizing them. Plus, the author is really responsive to bug reports. I submitted a new bug report introduced by the update to Firefox 16, and he posted a new version of Edit Bookmark Plus which fixes the bug within a few hours of my report.

IMAP Received Date

Great add-on! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great add-on. It fixes one of those (many) details you would think that Thunderbird should include by default but somehow doesn't. Fortunately there is a great community of add-on developers ready to step in and fix many of those little annoyances. Thank you, jikamens, for developing and publishing this add-on.

Dictionary Switcher

Very useful with Firefox. But NOT working on Thunderbird 12.0.1

Smart Folders Rated 5 out of 5 stars

UPDATE: the developer has corrected this bug in v 1.0.2 (just a few hours after I reported it). Thank you! I'm updating the rating from 3 to 5 stars because I can now use this add-on. My original review is below.

-----------------------------------

I just tried this add-on and it partly works. It seems to work in "normal" folders, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work in Smart Folders, which I'm using. So, unless it can be fixed to work in Smart Folders too, it's of no use to me.

Modernizador de la AFIP

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Anda bien, muchas gracias por crearla. Un solo comentario: me sorprendió que una extensión relativamente simple como esta tenga un tamaño de 140 kb, se podrá optimizar un poco?
----
This extension works OK, but it's only useful for Argentinian tax payers who have to interact with Argentina's Tax Agency website (www.afip.gob.ar)

Easy YouTube Video Downloader

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

As of the latest version (5.5) this add-on has become ad-supported. At least some features of it did.
For those who'd prefer a completely ad-less (and equally easy!) YouTube downloader, here's a good alternative: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/easiest-youtube-video-downl

SearchWP

Great, useful add-on.
Thank you, legege, for taking the time to update it to work with Firefox 4.0

Absolute Load Control

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Update:
The developer has released a new version of this add-on (in record time!) that works with the uncombined reload and stop buttons. I can use it now! Thank you! Very deserved five stars.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I was delighted to find this add-on: finally an add-on that will let me reload broken tabs! But unfortunately I don't have the stop and reload buttons combined in my Firefox layout, so it simply doesn't work for me. Pity! Are there plans to make it work with the "uncombined" reload button?

ScrapBook MAF Creator

Error Rated 3 out of 5 stars

ScrapBook MAF Creator is not working for me. When I try to run it, I get this error message:

Scrapbook MAF Creator has experienced an error:NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND.
Error message:
Component returned failure code: 0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) [nsIZipWriter.open]
Click OK to continue.

I'm running Scrapbook MAF Creator 1.1.0 on Firefox 3.6.13 (Windows XP SP3)

TabCloser

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on. Very handy if you have many tabs open.
Could you also add an option to RELOAD all tabs from the same domain? Given that you are already selecting all tabs from the same domain in order to be able to close them, maybe there wouldn't be too big of a change in the code. That'd be a great feature, please consider adding it. Thanks!

toolbarmode

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great add-on! By the way, I'm using version 0.7.5 (available at the author's website) on Firefox 3.6.6 without problems. You may need to force compatibility to be able to install it, but once installed it works
