Once again, Mozilla decides to mess up the user interface, and once again, a user has ridden to the rescue. Thanks for this. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1.2).
This software now allows some advertisements to appear automatically. Not what I'd expect from an ad blocking software, and apparently 3.5 million users agree (the statistics showed over 13 million users for this extension just prior to the 2.0 release, and now it's down below 9.5 million).
But, hey, losing 25% of your userbase isn't a big deal, is it?
I installed this software on multiple computers for multiple people so that it would suppress ads. And now, because the developer decides he wants to increase his income, he decides to allow ads from anyone who will pay him.
I've rolled back to 1.3.10 and will await a fork without this "functionality" rather than allow 2.0.1 to remain.
The AwesomeBar is anything but! This add-on saved me from uninstalling Firefox from all 3 computers that I have upgraded to Firefox 3.
(I would have preferred places.frecency.unvisitedTypedBonus to be set to 2, instead of 0, but that was an easy enough fix.)
Thanks for making Firefox usable again!
