Forecastfox Weather

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Tried it again. Still stuck on NY; useless. Support ?! Get a REAL forum, google groups is for the birds. Very, very disappointed !!!!

Forecastfox Weather

Broken in FF 20 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

A favorite for years, BUT: just got FF 20 and all it's options work fine EXCEPT location. Cannot change it at all. NY weather ? No use to me. Time to remove it until it is fixed...

Browser Turns Editor

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

A wonderful and VERY needed add-on - BUT:
All one gets is 'file not found' and searching for browser_turns_editor-1.1.0-fx.xpi produces only this site for results.
It seems the author has vanished along with the extension...?

Yahoo! Mail Watcher

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A follow-up:
This extension is now 100% PERFECT.
The developer is superbly helpful & very communicative.
This is the best there is !!!

Distill AlertBox

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

BEWARE!!! This add-on is capable all by itself of un-customizing FF. It is the ONLY add-on installed today, and after restarting I did not recognize my own browser anymore. Now I have to repeat ALL my work - BEWARE OF THIS ADD-ON !!!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.4.6.20111013).

Yahoo! Mail Watcher

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks for making this terrific add-on.
YAHOO !!! The best & cleverest EVER made !!! Tried others, but they were worse than useless; always failing. Since this add-on uses your existing log-in it just works. All it needs now - to be 100% perfect is the ability to make it use a custom URL for classic for those of us who despise being forced into the 'new', stinky resource-hogging yahoo style.

Download Flash and Video

Acts like malware. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO HIJACK PEOPLE'S BROWSERS, SO STOP IT !!!
At the VERY LEAST, give folks the choice of whether they want to see your update page; but DO NOT simply MAKE us have to see it (can't you see how this resembles browser hijacking ?!).
I would give this add-on a better review but for 2 things: It behaves like malware (see above), and it is NOT the only option nor even the best that I have found.

X-notifier (for Gmail,Hotmail,Yahoo,AOL ...)

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This is a great IDEA->but after several years using it I am giving it up.
It now eats more time than it saves.
I got it for yahoo and mail.com accounts.

Now that yahoo itself is a disaster, filling in a captcha is required...pure nuisance; and this add-on no longer checks mail.com for me either.

Worst of all (appearance-wise), EVERY time it updates (ALOT) it hijacks my browser to it's useless web-page with NO choice not to do that.

I credit the developer for making this herculean effort, but with such poor choices available for webmail providers now it has become a waste of time (at least for this user).

Two really good things are needed to make the webmail situation better: 1) a truly good/small webmail checker that is independent of the browser. 2) Webmail service that is worth having.

Right now neither exists, and I have checked.

Secure Login

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

As previously said:
"Abandonware + screws up logins on many sites."
I will only add that despite adding sites to it's exception list, it STILL forces a log-in even if not desired and the ONLY way to stop it is to disable the extension completely.
Uninstalled pending something better !

Default FullZoom Level

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I tried this because it has 2 options for 'fit to width'. This is a feature sadly missing in Firefox and it was my hope this extension would provide it. It does not work - at least not in any way that I can see and I tried to get it to work in many pages today. It would be grand if this developer would make this work so the nasty horizontal scrollbars could be made to go away....

Google Sidebar Remover

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

My take on this is simple:
Google did something REALLY stupid and has publicly stated that ALL users are STUCK WITH IT.
This is the fix for their nastiness.
There's LOTS good about Google, but this one thing is PURELY BAD.

X-notifier (for Gmail,Hotmail,Yahoo,AOL ...)

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I second that opinion - this is the BEST !
What really impresses me is the little sign it can put up near the tray EVEN if I have FF minimized, that's WAY COOL.
Only one suggestion to make: If you could also make a tray app that was it's own program - so that the browser could be closed, you would be the ONLY developer on the planet right now with one that WORKS and I bet lots of people would pay for that !!!
Great Work Byungwook Kang, thanks !

virus warning Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This extension updated itself on my PC and another PC that I use - much to my surprise.
I've been using it by over-riding the compatibility check and it's been fine...

BUT:
On both machines I got a virus/trojan warning and they each have different AV programs.

The warning seemed to center upon a page the update caused to be displayed after, and it did not resemble this add-on's page in any way.

Until this is explained to my satisfaction I will be re-installing v0.3.1 and preventing updates of this add-on.

FaviconizeTab

A shame it breaks TMP. Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Neat add-on if it didn't break TMP !
This is a cool idea - but TMP is ESSENTIAL.
It appears there is no support for this add-on.
Could someone please post where and/or how they found the older version as I need it too !
(The author's site is in Japanese..)

Thanks for any help !

Notepad (QuickFox)

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have just started using this and already I am in love with it !

In explanation:
Today I have spent alot of time doing something I've long put off, seeking out the right extensions for myself and setting up Firefox juuuust as I've always wished for it to be.

This extension is definitely and immediately right up there in my top choices of all time for goodies.
I have a total of 22 extensions and yet Firefox is still just as quick as ever, and I have made a collection so that I can repeat these additions if I am stupid enough to mess it up.

There's ALOT of truly great work here for us simple users, and the best of it is how wonderfully helpful some of the extension creators are !!!

Today is a sunday, and I am really kind of blown away by this extensions creator taking time within minutes of my email to him to help me with my own problems using this.
I cannot say enough nice things in thanks for such responsiveness !

Lastly - and I've been assured this is on the to-do list, the ONLY thing this extension needs to be 100% absolutely perfect is a status-bar icon.

(But in the meantime I've made a CustomButtons2 toolbar button for it so I can hit it better and more quickly.)

Thank You InBasic for your work and helpfulness !

Secure Login

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

As it arrives I'd see no sense to using it - BUT-> enable the hidden setting for autologin in it's docs, add exceptions for sites which you don't want it working at, and OF COURSE never, ever save passwords for sensitive sites like your bank or CC (thereby excluding it without effort) and Presto !

This is exactly the magic I've wanted for those annoying sites which insist upon having a manual login but are a total waste of time security-wise.

Portal pages, disposable webmail, user forums - Pffft !

Bye-Bye annoyingly repetitive log-ins.
Hello Secure Login on auto.

SyncPlaces

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

What a looong, strange trip this has been !!!
I have wanted a working sync extension for, well - forever, and found http://mkrd.info/software-discussions/firefox/firefox-bookmark-synchronization.html - which pointed me to this extension.
WOOF - nightmare time !
I've used most of this day messing with it, tried EVERY method in it's docs and NOTHING worked....until...until:
I stumbled upon free webdav @ http://www.mydrive.ch .
OMG. 2 minutes to make a free account...2 more minutes to validate and make 2 folders.
5 minutes to experiment with Syncplaces and find how to make it work - and it DID too.
server-> use HTTPS; URL->webdav.mydrive.ch .
I used 1 folder for bookmarks JSON file and another for passwords and it went fine.
NOW I can honestly recommend this add-on and hope others can avoid wasting their time as I have today.

Relating to the below comment which refers to a Bugzilla attachment - a saner way to obtain the attachment (if you wish to trust this user's edits...) is to view the page here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227922

Otherwise I have used this extension and liked it very much.
I shall use it again now because I wish to also use SyncPlaces which does not get along with Linkification for some reason.
It would be grand if the original author would jump in here and update this to avoid the need for users to hack it instead...

Biet-O-Zilla

great idea, but inoperative ! Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I have tried several versions of this and none
work.
The author's webpage comes up 403 right now and
even though I have installed the 2 latest version
I can find (0.8.2 and 0.8.3) with Firefox 2.06
they are just as useless as the one which would
not even install.
I do wish someone would come up with a working
add-on that does Ebay sniping, it would be great !
