My Reviews

Bookmark Favicon Changer

Shame on Mozilla for Ruining This! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I think it was when Firefox 3 came out when sonthakit really saved the day after the authors of previous favicon extensions had some sort of spat and left. It has been a pleasure to use this extension for so long since that time. I don't blame sonthakit one bit for giving up in the face of Mozilla's hideous decision to go into rapid release mode. RIP Bookmark Favicon Changer. It was great while it lasted.

LastPass Password Manager

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Either LastPass is still ignorant of this fact or they are not telling the whole truth. I had a 32-character completely random password generated by LastPass for a Gmail account. The account was compromised and used to send out spam late last week (thankfully, Google caught this and shut off access to the account). I looked at every possibility for several days as to how I could have given away this password myself even to the point of running three different anti-virus scans on my computer that runs GNU/Linux. There is no doubt in my mind that the only way this password could have been accessed is though this breech in LastPass. I have moved to another program that doesn't store my data in "the cloud." While a bit more inconvenient to carry around the necessary file on a thumb drive, it's a heck of a lot better than letting LastPass continue to reveal my passwords (yeah, this is not the first problem LastPass has had this year).

tl;dr Don't get suckered like I did. Pass on LastPass.

QuickJava

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

So simple. so easy to use, and so needed to eliminate security worries and general irritation. Anybody who ever surfs into unfamiliar territory should have this add-on installed and hit those "J" and "JS" buttons before proceeding.

IE View

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I'll be honest in that I normally use IE Tab when something refuses to display correctly in Firefox. But, sometimes, even that isn't good enough. IE View is an indispensable partner to IE Tab that gets you to such sites without fuss. The "always" feature is just splendid. Do yourself a favor and install this add-on -- sooner or later, you WILL need it!

IE Tab

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a must-have extension for any Firefox user. I find it most indispensable as I follow weather coverage streaming from local television stations across the United States. I'd guess that close to half of them will not work in Firefox proper, but just a click of the IE Tab icon and a quick reload fixes that...and the same goes for a lot of web-based radio station streams as well. But, this does so much more and I really could go on and on about how helpful it is. Anybody involved in programming this extension should be given a medal!

Full Screen Homestar Runner

Great Jorb!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been using this add-on for a long time and am happy to report that it still works great with Firefox 3. Yes, it is not perfect -- Main Menu 22 still won't show up in an expanded manner, plus a few other things aren't quite right such as when the site uses a jpeg or an embedded video (such as the Little Girl series). All that being said, this still deserves five stars for everything it DOES do, which is a lot...especially if you're lucky like me to have a 22" widescreen monitor.

Fission

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

So simple, yet so helpful...much better than watching a small graphic spin around or looking in a corner for a smaller bar. All hail zeniko for this great addition to Firefox!

Video DownloadHelper

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I really put this to the test last night by downloading quite a few clips from several widely different sites. It's easy to use and stable as the Rock of Gibraltar -- truly the king of embedded file downloaders for Firefox!

Past Modern

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This theme is very easy on the eyes and its icons are a vast improvement over the hideously lame ones that came with Firefox 3. I have used this for a couple of hours and see no glitches either in its visuals or function. To all involved in its design, I send my highest compliments!

Firefox 2, the theme, reloaded

Fixes the Failure of Firefox 3!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have nothing but absolute praise for this theme. I found it so welcome that it is the reason I finally signed up to do reviews. No, one cannot say that this is original work. However, the Firefox 3 menu bar icons as well as those in the Bookmarks area were so awful, so 1995, so third-grade that this theme rightfully deserves five stars for taking us back to a part of Firefox that didn't need improvement in the first place. I have used this theme all day under heavy surfing conditions and have not encountered a single problem visually or functionally. And, it still allows one to use the Personas add-on to spice up Firefox 3's look while still retaining the overall look of Firefox 2. My supreme compliments to the chef!
