RSS Ticker

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi there and thanks for the RSS Ticker for Firefox.

I have a couple suggestions shared by myself and several others in my circle of friends (non-Google circles that is):

Can you allow a ''spawning'' of tickers? Anotherwords, can you allow for multiple tickers to run at the same time? It would be nice to separate out various things like news and weather and other customizations.

With the previous in mind, can you also allow for color/hue and speed customization of these ticker bars? I know it sounds like it'd be ''busy'' or cluttered, but if you look at the stock exchange, there are multiple tickers running and at different speeds with different info.

Keep up the good work! Yours is one-of-a-kind!

Xmarks Sync

Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I'm sorry. I have used this extension for almost a year flawlessly, but this last update really hosed everything. I see all the excuses and reasons and how-to's to re-enable this but honestly I just don't have the time or patience, so I switched to Sync. I figure that since it is developed by Mozilla, it is much more closely integrated and maintained--and safe. Thanks XMarks for the convenience while it lasted. Hope you get your issues straightened out for folks who stay with you.

Xmarks Sync

Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I have been using Xmarks for some time now--since the beginning with Foxmarks. It had been flawless for at least a year and some months.

Anyway, in the last week or so, something has fundamentally broken with Xmarks and I'm not entirely sure it's Xmarks' fault, but it has been prevalent not only with my Macs and PC/Windows machines running Firefox, but among several friends using Xmarks as well.

There are too many problems for me to continue trying to fix what is broken and too little time, so I am making the move to Firefox Sync. Firefox Sync has its own growing pains, but at least it's closer to the source being part of the Mozilla backbone itself, and thus ''safer'' from that perspective.

While I'm hopeful the Xmarks proxy issues are eventually resolved for those staying with Xmarks, I can no longer recommend it.

Nice little security addition. One thing I'd like to see is a less ''ugly'' status bar icon. The one right now is surrounded by a little white rectangle. Not attractive. Something better needed.

A non-scrolling alternative? Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a great and attractive little add-on but unfortunately I have yet to find a MacBook, Pro or otherwise, that doesn't ramp up fans to a noisy level when running this. I have to trade off between loud fan noise and jittery scrolling. What would be great is a non-scrolling alternative where ticker items display one after another in one place, or perhaps in several columns?

I already emailed the developer about this and perhaps if more of us did, this feature would be implemented.

Seems to randomly disengage from ''disabled'' to ''enabled.'' Why does it not stick where it is told?

AT LONG LAST IT FINALLY WORKS ON FIREFOX FOR MAC! I had been very much resigned to the fact that it just never was going to look as good as my WinBloze counterpart but in the latest 3.5 release candidate IT WORKS! I wouldn't have even known this unless I had morbid curiosity and enabled a long-disabled extension. Basically I was cleaning out all but the officially ratified extensions and I enabled it just in case. Anyway--PLEASE DON'T TINKER NOW THAT IT WORKS! AND MUCH THANKS!
