From a user standpoint, this addon is great. However, I wish there were an option to download (but not show) ads. The user experience would be the same, but websites that count on ad revenue would still get money from pageviews.
In response to the response: in a perfect world, sure. But a lot of websites get money for ads loaded, and if websites had no way to know whether the ads were actually rendered on your screen, website owners would get paid by ad suppliers. Ad companies aren't going to change their model because a smallish percentage of the internet is using adblockers.
I've been a huge fan of PasswordMaker for years. The idea of autogenerating passwords based on a hash is fantastic. Generating usernames, too, is a great idea. Unfortunately, the team seems to have abandoned PasswordMaker to focus on Abine. I know it's in beta, but despite my best efforts, I couldn't get it to fill in any passwords, even after enabling it and configuring the integrated PasswordMaker functionality. The shortcut keys didn't work, and Abine's autofill didn't even enter a wrong password in. It was just blank. This is disappointing, because I really, really wanted to like this, as PasswordMaker doesn't work as well with Firefox as it used to.This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.744).
Good, but not perfect. Sometimes has false alarms. In any case, the UI is unintuitive - who would have thought you'd have to open the sidebar to stop tracking a page? This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.11.1).
Good, but no obvious way to remove a site once you no longer wish to track changes. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.11.1).
Concept - great. Customizability - good. Compatibility- Great (Works with 3.6 beta AND my vertical tab bar). One complaint: The colors that get chosen are way too intense. Next to my light-gray firefox theme and the fact most pages have white background, the tab colors on the left of my screen are very deep and distracting. FabTabs has an opacity setting, which can be used to tone this down, but then it looks grayed out and ugly. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.3.3).
Does exactly what I wanted.
One thought, though: If you were using this to hide something, something called "HistoryBlock" is hardly inconspicuous. Sure, it doesn't say what is being blocked, but IMO, that's almost worse.
I'm using this to hide some totally-100%-safe-for-work sites, just off-topic. Having an extension called HistoryBlock installed might suggest I'm hiding much worse stuff than webblogs like Joystiq...
Additional thought: It doesn't block cookies the way private browsing does. Personally, this is a perk.
When it works, great. I use the toolbar icon, but sometimes, the button is grey and I'm forced to use the right-click menu. And I hate it when extensions clog my right click menu. I've got 25 right-click menu options right now because most extensions assume this. And it's annoying. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.6.1).
Cool addon, but it's irritating to me that it always opens the "linkified" URL in a new window, and there's no way to configure this. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.3).
I have way too many extensions installed. This is great! It would be nice to see a few more customizations, such as "Display new addons first time only," but it does what it says, and it does it well! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.2).
Definitely cool looking, but not very useful. Too scattered without a distinct ordering, so it's hard to find something. With some tweaking, or perhaps a different effect, this could be really cool. I'm thinking a "pile" of pages that reorganizes based on where you're hovering, or something less random.
Funny story - when I found this extension, and installed it, the find bar was already open, and empty. This won't happen anymore! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1).
Function-wise, it does what it says, and well. It gets a star off because it adds a "Site Launcher" menu to the toolbar, which is pretty much the only thing you can't customize. This is unfortunate. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (0.9.3).
The filters don't always work. When they do, great. Sometimes they don't, though. Like someone else pointed out, redirects show up in the bar when they shouldn't.
