About this Collection
These are the ones I can't browse without. As you can tell, the collection is meant for browsing, especially over slow connections, rather than social networking, etc.
21 Add-ons in this Collection
The easy way to download and convert Web videos from hundreds of YouTube-like sites.
Collector's Note Though this seems to be geared partly towards "private" sites, it works great at most, but not all, video sites. Bear in mind that content delivery sites like YouTube are constantly inventing new ways to prevent users from copying videos to their machines, but this add-on tends to do what it can to keep up with this "arms race". I require videos to be available offline as I rarely have access to broadband. I am not a pirate, just someone who has to live with dial-up.
The best security you can get in a web browser!
Allow active content to run only from sites you trust, and protect yourself against XSS and Clickjacking attacks.
Collector's Note Must Have!! Even if you don't use the per-host blocking feature, NoScript still adds plenty of cutting-edge security features to Firefox that ought to be included in the browser. Rather than wait for FF to include such features, the NoScript author adds such things on a continual basis. This is probably the best add-on ever, so please donate to the project!!
LastPass, an award-winning password manager, saves your passwords and gives you secure access from every computer and mobile device.
Collector's Note Must Have!! One of the first client-encrypted password managers is still the best. Not only does it provide top-notch password protection, but it automatically logs you into the sites you visit if you like.
Remove or manage a new and uncommon kind of cookies, better known as LSO's.The BetterPrivacy safeguard offers various ways to handle Flash-cookies set by Google, YouTube, Ebay and others...
Collector's Note Flash cookies quickly became the norm once people started blocking regular cookies, so this is yet another progression in the "arms race" between consumers who want the internet to be free and the sites that have to find ways to hide the costs in their ad banners, etc.
Displays a country flag depicting the location of the current website's server and provides a multitude of tools such as site safety checks, whois, translation, similar sites, validation, URL shortening, and more...
Direct access to your most visited websites
Collector's Note Opera has had this feature for years and still has the best user interface there is, but Firefox simply has more development resources and better add-ons, so I really like add-ons that make Firefox feel more like Opera. This one works great.
Xmarks is the #1 bookmarking and open tab add-on. Keep your bookmarks, and open tabs backed up and synchronized across computers and browsers. Mobile phones with Premium access. Utilize LastPass to sync passwords!
Collector's Note Owned by LastPass, this add-on was once Foxmarks, which invented the idea of synching bookmarks, tabs, and history across various devices. FF 4 has a built-in Synch feature now that does most of this while adding browser preferences, but I still prefer Xmarks as it offers more options and a better UI.
Allows Firefox to reload multiple images that failed to be displayed.
Helps you to save Web pages and organize the collection.
Collector's Note Let's me save entire pages for offline viewing. Disk cache can't be relied upon to bring back visited sites, but ScrapBook does a great job of saving the page and even sub-links if you desire.
NoSquint allows you to adjust the text-only and full-page (both text and images) zoom levels as well as color settings both globally (for all sites) and per site.
Collector's Note I currently have this disabled, because FF 4 offers whole-page zooming by default. This add-on remembers your zoom settings for every site you visit, however, which can be very helpful at times.
Show tabs like a tree.
Collector's Note I've never found a "perfect" tab manager, but this add-on comes closest. I've always preferred Opera's tab management system over Firefox's, but Tree Style Tab does make things a whole lot better for people that prefer tabs on the side of the window. This probably includes anyone with more than a dozen tabs open at any one time.

Fasterfox Lite: Performance and network tweaks for Firefox, without the Enhanced Prefetching. This is a fork from the original "Fasterfox".
Collector's Note I actually use Fasterfox Lite, but that add-on wouldn't show up for me for some reason. This add-on merely provides convenient access to settings that already exist in FF. Makes it far easier to manage your connections whether you are on dial-up or a T1.
CacheViewer by benki
This extenion is GUI Front-end of "about:cache"...
Collector's Note As of this writing, this add-on must be modified to work with FF 4.0.1, but there are directions in the reviews (May 2011).
Adds toolbar buttons to the customize toolbar window in several programs including Firefox, Thunderbird and SeaMonkey. Some of the buttons make commonly preformed actions quicker, others add new functionality.
Collector's Note Firefox doesn't come with a good selection of optional buttons (Opera offers lots), so this add-on attempts to rectify that situation.
