Xmarks (v 188.8.131.52) syncing - very slow Rated 2 out of 5 stars
I have had the Firefox v42 add on installed for two weeks and used it on the work (Win7 32) and home (Win7 64) PC.
Firstly installed it at work and had no problems but at home whenever I would open FF it started syncing and went on for ages, sorry hours. I did reinstall the add on but without any improvement. Now I have no patience any more and taking the Xmarks out.
Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Would be good if it were maintained Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Ever since being bought by LastPass, there hasn't been a single new feature added, nor have there been any non-critical bug fixes. Issues that were well known at the time of the purchase continue to be a problem, to the point where it has been dropping into and out of FF's untrusted list (with just enough work done each time to get it back to minimal clearance). If and when some resources are finally devoted to it, it might become good again. As it stands, it's another good product ruined by neglect after a buyout.
Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Works perfectly, it's the best way to sync all my bookmarks between computers and browsers.
Works horribly Rated 1 out of 5 stars
This would be a great product if it only worked. However, it does far more damage than anything else. I use three browsers across 2 computers an iPhone and iPad. Xmarks consistently doubles my bookmarks, reverts to old bookmark sets that are at least a year old and will not properly restore from older bookmark sets the way it's supposed to from their website tool. I would stay far far away from this dangerous, potentially disastrous plugin.
There is a known issue with xmarks being used in conjunction with other syncing systems but I stopped Chrome from syncing bookmarks and still have had the same issues with Xmarks.
I would give 0 stars if possible but 1 is the lowest rating.
app search function Rated 5 out of 5 stars
xmarks is one of my best firefox addons, but I cann't search with more than one keywords with android app or ios app, that said, it's still worth buying.
Works Well, Set autoSynchFreq to Desired Sync Frequency Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I began using XMarks a month ago and haven't had any issues with duplication of folders and URL favorites other reviewers remark on.
My main issue with the add-on was with the re-sync interval that isn't advertised how frequently XMarks syncs out to the cloud and is not an option that can be set within the XMarks add-on user interface.
I found that the default sync is set to 60 minutes, and can be set to a more useful interval of your choice like 5 minutes by updating the extension file settings.jsm (for Windows Firefox). Other OS and browsers should have a similar settings file located in the browser extensions folder for XMarks.
Firefox profiles are located in a folder similar to Windows location:
Locate your profile / search for settings.jsm, make a backup copy of the file, and edit in a text editor (GUI editors like Word for instance likely will add formatting control characters that invalidate the file data structure).
Search for autoSynchFreq and find the reference where it actually is set via line similar to:
and change to your preferred sync frequency like 5 minutes:
and save the file. You can check the add-ons user interface every few sync intervals to verify that the last sync timestamp is now following your refresh interval rather than the default 60, probably need to shutdown browser and restart for setting to be reread by XMarks add-on.
Main reason for 4 stars versus 5 stars is that XMarks owner LastPass wants you to buy a premium monthly subscription service to get a few nice to have but not critical benefits, the main being smart phone apps that, presumably - XMarks / LastPass doesn't explain anywhere on there premium service sign up site what features exactly you get with premium beyond a smart phone app of unadvertised functionality - so presumably the smart phone app syncs all your synced cloud data onto the phone. With the free account, from your smart phone browser you can access XMarks website, sign in, and have access to all your XMarks cloud URL favorites but it is slower since each folder you travel through reads your bookmarks data from the cloud live, so there is a second or so delay as you travel through each bookmark folder and subfolder with the browser access to XMarks.
I can only presume the smart phone app syncs the cloud data to your phone for instant navigation through your bookmark folders, and presume the premium app auto-logs-in for you - apparently the money you would pay for the premium service doesn't include perks like being told what your money buys for you :o
buggy broken rubbish Rated 1 out of 5 stars
Ever since lastpass bought xmarks, they have let it decay into utter rubbish. You'll spend more time cleaning up duplicate folders sometimes in the hundreds than any possible time savings from this broken plugin.

This is one DISASTROUS add-on/extension Rated 1 out of 5 stars
XMarks was the original bookmarks extension/add-on and it is now showing its age. It suffers from massive bugs which almost rise to the level of malware and the developers lost interest in curing them some YEARS ago!
Basically, the bug empties out all your folders and spontaneously dumps all your bookmarks in the root over time. At the next sync, this malware then infects all your other browsers/computers with this problem. At some time after this, XMarks seems to recognise that your folders aren't the same as your original folders (DUH!! THEY ARE EMPTY!) and it seems to duplicate them with even more empty folders until you have (possibly) hundreds of completely useless folders, all of them empty.
I would imagine it should take about five minutes for a competent developer to identify all this behaviour and cure it if the developers could care less but this problem is so widely reported that OBVIOUSLY they couldn't. So this is not a bug report, this is a review.
Bug reports to the developers result in their sending users to one of the most ponderous and confusing repair procedures I have ever encountered on the Internet. There is an extraordinarily slow and confusing way of going back to a time before XMarks infected all your bookmarks with this malware but obviously the further back you go, the more bookmarks you will lose.
Oh, and don't think that you can actually effectively go back in time to perform this excruciatingly slow 'repair': A few days later, XMarks will re-infect all your computers and browsers all over again!
Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Why Xmarks keep asking for my password whenever I start my Firefox (v.40.0.2). Is there anybody have the same issue like me, and what's the solution to it?
Rated 1 out of 5 stars
On FireFox version 39 suddenly stopped working. Can not synchronize. Xmarks 220.127.116.11 version
On Crome work authorization on the site my xmarks okay. All removed, cleaned, re-established, the first successful synchronization, and then again does not work, synchronization always unsuccessfully.
Absolutely necessary for me Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Xmarks is essential to my FF set-up. I use its three profiles (work, home, in-between) to keep my identities separate and to reduce the number of bookmarks I see. I use Lastpass for my passwords and Firefox Sync for my add-ons, just like Ramthan in the review before me does.
To all who have problems, scroll down to Kerroj's remarks. I never had those things happen to me, although I log onto Macs and PCs running XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8.

I find this to be much more reliable than Firefox Sync, and I love the fact that it works across multiple browsers and platforms. At this point, I only use Firefox Sync to sync add-ons, and use XMarks and its sister LastPass for everything else.

Damages bookmarks badly if Firefox Sync is enabled.

Mijn favoriete addon.
omg Kerroj THANK YOU +1!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
My Xmarks hasn't updated since October 2014 and I tried numerous times since then to fix it. I was just about to go through support on Xmarks when I read a review (by Irfan) mentioning Kerroj's review XD
I deleted the only bookmark (on my local folder and the Xmarks website) I figured that was interfering, which was for the Mercury browser on my iPhone. I followed all the steps, and finished with "Force overwrite of server data." And voilà!!!
Of course this issue may not have been due to any particular bookmark, and could've been resolved by just following the subsequent steps.
Thanks to Kerroj Rated 4 out of 5 stars
I read this Review by Kerroj.
Instead of Overwrite the server, I chose Repair local nodeset.
And it works. Thanks Kerroj.
OPENED XMARKS SUPPORT TICKET AND WAS GIVEN A SOLUTION THAT WORKED!!! Rated 4 out of 5 stars
by Kerroj on February 24, 2015 · permalink · translate
I recently found out that my Xmarks has not been updating/syncing like it should. My last successful sync was on August 31st, 2014 (today is February 24th, 2015.) I went to the Xmarks website and opened a support ticket and copy/pasted the log file inside the support ticket as well (found under the Advanced tab in the Xmarks control panel.) I received a quick reply the next day from Chantie and was offered a solution that actually worked perfectly! I was told one of the bookmarks I had was conflicting with the Xmarks sync and I was told to remove it from both my Firefox bookmarks and from my Xmarks bookmarks list. Then in Firefox, go to Add-ons under Tools and find the Xmarks extension. Click Options and the control panel for Xmarks appears. Now go over to the top right and click Advanced. Under Advanced, see Manual Overwrite and click Upload to 'Force overwrite of server data.' After this was done, Xmarks went through the sync process and now all my bookmarks are restored (some were missing and out of order BEFORE August 31st as well) and synced up-to-date. I hope this helps some of you experiencing problems with this extension.
