Links are not getting clickeable Rated 2 out of 5 stars

By installing the extension I was expecting to see the windows links (\\host\...) becoming clickeable but no, you still have to select the text, use the right click and then select an action in the menu.

That functionality was never intended

I'm sorry you felt you had to give a 2 start review because my plugin didn't do what you expected, but it does work as intended. Updating the link on the fly wouldn't help anyone, since the submenu options are customisable (you can open a selection with a given prefix, or search option, e.g.), and via the menu this is immediate. Updating the link from that choice instead of just doing it would then require a second operation.

Malware alert! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This add-on contains malware. If you've customised your FX29, it's going to mess up your firefox button, your reload button, your stop button, and basically the entire chrome of your browser. Don't tell me I didn't warn you. Malware stays even after addon disabling. I'm still struggling to fix my browser and make it how it used to be. The idiot who made this add-on should be blocked from making any more.

Edit: Ok, fixed the firefox button but my reload and stop buttons still take up nearly half the space on my screen. Terribly annoying.

No, not malware

Shame you didn't bother asking me for help; I'm usually happy to help with any problems or feature requests, but maybe not so much after I've been called a malware writer on a public forum.

I can't think of anything URL Link does that could possibly have any of the effects you describe here, and I also can't conceive of a way in which those effects might persist after you uninstall an extension.

URL Link does not contain, and has never contained, any form of malware, and has lots of satisfied users. Unpack the XPI (a ZIP file) and check the code for yourself.

Great! We use it at work all the time. I'm looking for something like this for Chrome as well, for an employee. Thanks for the add-on!

Not to my knowledge

I barely have time to maintain this, unfortunately, let alone port it :-/

There'll be an update in a month or so, FWIW, after holidays.

Great app! It does the job really well (and is pretty easy to personalize)

Just one issue in Google+ when opening properties of the post, ad selecting "link to this post", Add-on can not open the provided link in new tab.
Other than that the add-on is perfect.

Works great, even in Linux. I just had to change the default file-opening string from ^//||file:/// to ^//||smb:// and then send that link to dolphin, now I can open the SMB links that are often sent to me.

just a perfect extension Rated 5 out of 5 stars

A very helpful extension. Moreover, the developer (Neil) is very kind and patient. I was struggling with slashes and backslashes as a kiddo. Finally, I learned the "file:///" trick: "file:///\\servername\folder". No more URL copy-paste, no more slash correction. Only select, choose from the menu, and open. I'll have to find a shortcut to it yet ;-) Cheers,

For TB7? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Is there going to be an official version available for TB7? I can frig the install.rdf file to force it to install but it would be nice to have an officially supported version.

...

Yes, that worked, which is interesting as the install.rdf file says 5.* not 7.* for MaxVersion for Thunderbird!

This is one of three plugins that installed under FF 3.6.10 on one machine but not on another. Must be an FF 3.6.10 bug. The only difference is that the other machine grandfathered the modules...

This add-on is a must-have; it should be built into Firefox.

I second Sandman comments.

Why not simply make the URL look like a link that I can simply double click upon?

I can't find a add-on that does this with TB 3.1 sadly.

No re-writing of the email

Because (a) it's nowhere near simple (it requires some complicated rewiring of the email's DOM - I have looked into it), and (b) I *really* prefer to see emails as they are, not with extensions having quietly re-written bits of them.

Bit mean to mark /me/ down because you can't find an extension that does exactly what /you/ want ...

URL Link is a useful extension that works as described, however, it's use would be greatly improved by simply making text URL's appear and act as regular links. Yes there are other extensions that already do this, but I would love to see this functionality in Thunderbird as well, and with that additional function, this would be a great Add-on. Either way, thanks for making it available to the community.
