For those of you looking for a replacement:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/selected-search/?src=userprofile

This one can be very easily modified to perform the exact same function, and even better.

I am disappointed that this addon is not ported to FF4. I use https://addons.mozilla.org/de/firefox/addon/context-search/ instead now.

Use this one instead. Has the exact same functions: https://addons.mozilla.org/nl/firefox/addon/cleeki-instant-search/

you have to add 'google image search' manually

answer for not showing some of the search engines Rated 5 out of 5 stars

the popup menu will not show the search engines which has language specific letters such as ç, ş, ı, or any other none english letter in search engine name. you can change the search engines name from %appdata%\mozilla\firefox\profiles\[used profile usually there is only one folder]\searchplugins, by editing the search engine file. while editin you will see something looks like search engine name next to <os:ShortName> line which will appear in the pop up menu. if you change that line to <os:ShortName>edited search engine</os:ShortName> pop up menu will show up with edited search engine if you select the box of it. you can write anything where i've written "edited search engine" unless they contain language specific letters as long as it is in this form <os:ShortName>[text to be shown]</os:ShortName>

Из-за русских букв в названии поискового движка — переименуйте в Yandex и Wikipedia.

Looks like the IE accelerator gallery doesn't work for it anymore. Other than that pretty handy add-on.

Although it generally works well, has a nice interface and is flexible and customizable, I gave up on it and switched to Cleeki.

Universal Search works too well. It shows up when you select text while composing rich text in Gmail and then interferes with drag and drop while editing. Moreover, it leaves graphical gribblies in the buffer.

Even if you click (without a selection) to cancel the pop-up menu, you sometimes have to clean up manually. Worse, even if you think you've cleaned the menu graphics from the buffer, you sometimes get image placeholders in your quoted message when someone replies.

There was some discussion of this on their help forum. They consider the case closed despite other reports that it persists. That was weeks ago. I just got tired of waiting for a fix.

Great for search Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I decided to take a look at your other tools after using Universal Search, and I gota say, I am sorta blown away by this neat tool.

The accelerator feature is great, I've always missed that after switching from IE to Firefox, and I love it when people port these features.

One thing to think about
1) Add more engines to your default list, I mean, it's currently empty right now, not everyone wants to go and add from different sites.

Thanks again.
