thanks to portable 3.6 i still know what thinger is all about....
ff10 is looking mighty good and more interface customization friendly.. waiting for 1337 computer literate to get thinger concept back into the game .... omnibar/foobar has been a decent replacement if one can commit keywords to memory, still search boxes are quicker & webpages text can be query-ed via drag onto them

TT alternative Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For those few still occasionally checking this page in dim hope of seeing updates for newer firefox versions i'd like to suggest alternative i started to use instead of TT - that is Second Search addon.
Maybe i wouldn't have found/switched to it if i'd manage to get working TT, but well, but as it got more and more broken (starting with having to change or override version for addon to install, then having to generate profile within older version of FF or editing profile by hand to add 2nd search control) until it stopped working at all even with those hacks.
I also changed options to SS to show only two most recent used search engines.
Cons of Second Search addon compared to TT - it's not actually another search control, so one needs additionally press up cursor key to use different search engine to perform current search (without switching default one).
Pros of SS: less browser estate space used then two search controls (especially if more then two search controls were used).
Imho less space used is worth having to press once up-key before return key to search, and hey .. finally no fuss with dropped support & not updated addon.
Hope this helps other TT users too. RIP TT :(

No chance to use under FF 4.0 anymore? :-( Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am also TOTALLY in love with this addon but it seems not to work anymore under FF 4, so far I could make it work all these years under FF 3.0, 3.5 and these days 3.6 but under FF 4 all these tricks are not working anymore right now.
Really too bad that the developer lost interest in this great addon and no one else developed something similar so far:-(
If anyone finds a way to make this work under FF 4 please share how to do it or I have to stay on FF 3.6 forever...

Still works in 3.7 Alpha!! Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I've just downloaded Firefox 3.7 alpha 5 (soon to-be Firefox 4), used my old profile, with Thinger and search bars installed, and surprise: IT WORKS. Search bars are fully functional. So we'll be able to use multiple search bars in this future version of Firefox, with this very old extension that no one seems to bother to update. Regarding this, specifically, I've got no thanks for the developers of Thinger or Firefox, they simply don´t bother to implement such a simple and essential feature of having more than one search bar; but I've got tons of thanks to the indefinite, chaotic and random reasons, amidst thousands of lines of Firefox code, that allow this old extension to continue to work! Thanks to that and nothing else.

Multiple search bars please... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Using Firefox 3.6.3, thinger extension still working ok. I´m worried about the next versions, thought... I doubt that thinger will continue to work. The most fundamental part for me is the addition of several search bars... It´s unbelievable that nobody else has developed such a feature. What´s so difficult about having multiple search bars? Isn't it important? Please, someone, respect the intelligence of web users and develop that feature. If I knew how, I would. Thank you.

PleasepleasepleasepuppyeyesbegbegbegpuhLEEEASE release the code so that it can be kept up to date! This is the SINGLE MOST ESSENTIAL add-on in the history of Firefox!

(I'm suprised this functionality hasn't been built into Firefox already, it's worth its weight in gold-pressed latinum!)

still functional in firefox 3.5 Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Detailed instructions on how to install this add-on for current versions of firefox are in:

http://www.oxymoronical.com/web/firefox/Thinger

It is still possible to use the multiple search bars feature. Once again I ask if someone can update this extension for current versions of firefox, this is one of the best.

Please update for Firefox 3!

Very useful for those with milions of bookmarks and want it all one click away Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Great addon that helps me place favicons all over the menu bar, address bar and below on toolbars. I havent found any better addon so far.

There are just 2 things I would improve:
1. Make it work with FF3
2. Enable regular right click option, when clicking on the favicon.

Love this extension. PLEASE update for FFox 3.0.1 -- I miss it.

This app is the best! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This app is the best! I love it, its more useful than any other out there. My №1 add on.

Great extension! Multiple search bars should be supported by default in Firefox. I force-installed Toolbar Thinger 1.0 in FF3 and the extra search bars work fine. If you're gonna try it, just don't touch the Bookmark links or Bookmark toolbars, if you do, an annoying "Bookmark Options" window keeps popping up.

My favorite add on, hope its gonna be compatible with FF3 soon...
