Power, at the expense of usability Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Sure are a lot of fancy features. Everything but a simple hotkey to show ones tabs. If one exists perhaps in the extensions intro page you could post it IN CAPITAL LETTERS. Caps are particularly needed in your case because you made your all your comments in one big block [ever hear of paragraphs?].
If you want to make your tabs jump through hoops, and have a lot of time to spare, go for it!
If you just wanted to display your tabs full-screen, well, lotsa luck.

LATER: The developer contacted me and tried to address my issues. Turns out that his extensions page displayed as one block of text due to my LavaFox Purple theme. So boo to LavaFox's coder, not DW-dev.
As to my general usability comments, he will be annoyed but i still think its interface could be easier, or better explained.
Probably 51% of the difficulty is down to unavoidable complexity. [It's damned hard to make the space shuttles control panel as simple as a vending machine.]

Simple hotkeys, LavaFox V2-Purple theme bug, try Tile View add-on

The simplest way to create a tiled layout is by clicking on the Tile View button icon.

There are also simple hotkeys to create and show the tiled layout:
- Use F12 to create a new tiled layout. Use F12 again to close the tiled layout.
- Use F9 to toggle between the tiled view and the normal browser view.

The Getting Started section of the homepage documentation has been clarified on these points.

If you are using the LavaFox V2-Purple theme, the documentation for Tile Tabs (or any other add-on) will appear as one big block of text when viewed documentation in Firefox's Add-ons Manager, due to a bug in this theme.

If you are looking for a simpler 'split browser' add-on, then please try the "Tile View" add-on.

Хорошее приложение, есть много ненужных опций Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Мне нужна только 1 опция которую я не нашёл: Объединять страницы в выбранный по умолчанию макет с помощью Ctrl по вкладке.

I need only one option which I have not found: Merge selected pages in the default mock using Ctrl by the tab

I want this:
1. Open the desired page I \ tab - I would like to combine it with another.
2. Clamp the Ctrl.
3. rolls the mouse over second the desired tab, click the left mouse button - the page merged and both tabs are active.

I do not understand! why he unites two mounted side by side tabs? when I ask him to combine active and inactive tab via Ctrl + double-click!

How to tile two specific tabs side-by-side

To tile two specific tabs side-by-side in a layout you can use either menu commands or the Tile Tab/Link mouse shortcut.

Using menu commands:

• Select the first tab by clicking on its tab button.
• Click "Tile" on the main menu bar (or on the "Tile Tabs" toolbar button drop-down menu).
• Select "Tile Tab" on the sub-menu.
• Select the direction - "Above", "Left", "Right" or "Below".
• Select the second tab.

Using Tile Tab/Link mouse shortcut:

• Select the first tab by clicking on its tab button.
• "Shift+Drag" the second tab button over the contents of the first tab and drop.

If you are looking for a simpler 'split browser' add-on, then please try the "Tile View" add-on.

Good add-on but... Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Hello!
I've been using this extension for a while and it seems to do its job, especially after you've fixed an annoying bug with scroll positions. However, I've noticed something strange recently. I opened ~200 tabs in multiple panorama groups and decided to switch to a different group by typing a title of the tab (from a different panorama group) in the address bar and pressing "Go to tab" or whatever that option is called in English version of FF. After I pressed "Go to tab" browser stopped responding for a couple of seconds and then the following message showed up (I am using localized version of FF, this is a translation):

Scenario is not responding

It looks like that scenario on this web-page is not responding. You can stop it now or continue and see if it can finish its job.
Scenario: chrome://tiletabs/content/tiletabs-browser.js:1403

So, it looks like this scenario has something to do with Tile Tabs. The thing is, I have Tile Tabs activated in Addons menu but I didn't open any tiles/layouts at all during that session! I thought that if I don't use any of this addon's functions, it is not loaded. But it looks like there is some strange script that does something without my permisson. What is this scenario and what does it do? Like I said. I didn't open any layouts or any other addon function, I just wanted to switch to a different panorama group.

Thank you!

Please contact support ...

This is the first time this problem has been reported. It may be related to the large number of tabs that you have opened or it may be related to recent changes in Firefox or conflicts with other add-ons. It is likely that the correct translation should be "Script" rather than "Scenario".

Regarding the operation of add-ons, it is true that some add-ons are only active when a menu command is selected or a button is clicked. However, other add-ons, such as Tile Tabs, are active in the background whenever Firefox is running. In order for Tile Tabs to display several tabs side-by-side at the same time, it is necessary for Tile Tabs to modify the normal tab display and tab selection behaviour of Firefox, and this functionality is active whenever Firefox is running.

This is one of those wonderful extensions that you don't know how much you need until you actually use it. Now I wish I had started using it years ago. The documentation on the main page is comprehensive and clear, and it makes it a lot simpler to use this addon than it might appear at first. The developer seems to have thought of almost everything, which is really nice for customizers like me. I have only one request: Could there be a couple of (configurable) hotkeys for switching between tiles? One hotkey would switch the focus to the next tile, while the other would switch the focus to the previous tile. This would come in very handy for users like me who don't like to take their hands away from the keyboard.

Use ArrowKey shortcuts to navigate between tiles

You can use the 'Activate Tile' ArrowKey shortcuts to navigate between tiles. These shortcuts are configurable, but by default are Ctrl+Shift+ArrowKey. Unfortunately, these shortcuts do not work reliably if the web page focus is in a text input box, and by default these shortcuts are disabled if the focus is in a text input box.

I really like the idea of this addon, but the way the tabs are managed make it useless for me.

The problem is, I really have trouble to distinguish a "real" tab from one that is attached to a tile.

And because the tabs are still there, it doesn't save space, to "merge" sites that way.

What I like to have is one tab, with x tiles, where the focussed tile is defining the actual tab icon/title.

Tile Tabs already has this feature !

To make Tile Tabs work exactly as you have described, you need to enable the 'Single tab for each layout' option. You may also want to enable the 'Move all tiled tabs to left side' option.

This addon was great until something like 7.0 but I think it went too far with feature & settings creep recently.

In recent version there's been some strange bug that made it unusable for me, seems sometimes whatever I do (pushing a key from keyboard, opening a URL via address bar), it keeps toggling a tiled tab (even if initially there was no layout open)... The only way to stay sane is to disable the addon.

Try resetting options using 'Restore Defaults' button

This problem has not been reported before. There may be a conflict with another add-on, or the options for keyboard and mouse shortcuts may not be set as intended. Try resetting the options by clicking on the 'Restore Defaults' button in the 'Tile Tabs Options' dialog.

A new layout can be created using keyboard shortcuts (F12 or the arrow keys) or a mouse shortcut (Double-click tab button or Shift+Drag tab or link), but not by opening a URL via the address bar. The new features/settings introduced in recent versions of Tile Tabs have been driven by requests from users.

You may be interested to know that work is currently going on to update and re-launch the 'Tile View' add-on, which is effectively a 'Tile Tabs Lite' add-on with simpler user interface and option settings.

Seems like a great idea, but during actual use this add-on falls short. Tried to view 3 different college class descriptions side by side, but the Tile Tabs would not hold the spot in each page where I was reading. Each time I left a pane, it would default back to the top left corner. Not too useful when trying to compare information located in the center of each of the 3 pages.

Fixed in Version 11.6

This problem was inadvertently introduced in Version 11.5 and did not happen with earlier versions.

This problem has now been fixed in Version 11.6 which is available for download at:

Too complicated and convoluted Rated 1 out of 5 stars

The other add-on was simple, this isn't. Too many menus and not intuitive. I'll be uninstalling this after this and going back to the one that is simple, intuitive and easy to use. I just wanted to have the ability to have a split browser, not the mess this contraption creates.

The only fix you can do is to remove the nagging message from the other one. I don't care if it's not supported anymore, I don't want to keep seeing the message over and over and over when it's easier to use than this thing is.

Tile View has been improved and fully updated

I assume the other add-on you are referring to is Tile View.

Tile View has been improved and fully updated to work with all versions of Firefox (3.6-29.*).

Fixed in Version 11.1

With Tile Tabs 11.0, the highlighting of tiled tabs (Icon Border, Color Text, Italic Text) does not work if you have the latest version of Tab Mix Plus (0.4.1.3) installed.

This issue is fixed in Tile Tabs 11.1.

Absolutely don't work, FF 26 on windows 7 and on linux. All it does is putting a colored border around tabs, and display flickering little info boxes. 30min trying to figure out how it works and couldn't, the 'getting started' doesn't produce anything. A shame as I would love use it!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (11.0).

More information please ...

Tile Tabs works on all versions of Firefox from 3.6 to 29.

It sounds like you are not seeing a "tiled layout", but the coloured borders around tab icons and the little information (property) boxes indicate that Tile Tabs is doing something.

The fact that you are experiencing problems on both Windows 7 and Linux probably indicates a conflict with another add-on that you have installed in Firefox on both these platforms.
