Tiddly wiki rocks! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have been using tiddlywiki for 2-3 years now, and it just got better with time. Eagerly waiting for stable version of TW5. Works well on Linux desktop/laptop.

Works pretty fine for me :)

Reply to Matt, and review Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Actually, I'm mainly writing because I want to reply to Matt who posted earlier.

Matt, no worries, you should still be able to edit. At least with TiddlyWiki5 which I'm using myself, but I'm guessing the previous incarnation works the same way.

Simply open the wiki in your browser, make your changes, and then download/save the wiki as a new file. The new file can replace the old one, as it should have all your changes. It's not as smooth since you're not saving the changes directly—and must remember to save before leaving the page or closing the browser window—but it does the trick for those on Chrome or Safari, or those who do not have this add-on installed.

It's really built to be portable and available to anyone and everyone; a fantastic platform. I've been creating my own toolkit around the new alpha version for kickstarting my upcoming projects. It's open source and (although in development) available at http://github.com/dnordstrom/kit.motiwi for anyone who wants to use it.

I personally love this add-on. There's not much to say, as it does a seemingly simple job very well: it makes an already pleasant experience a lot simpler, smoother, and even more enjoyable!

Thanks to Jeremy for creating these tools and making them free open source software.

Best regards,
D.

I can't get this to work since I upgraded to Firefox 23 on Ubuntu 12.04. Very frustrating, as I now have a wiki I can't edit.

Nice, works fine :)

Work fine in linux firefox Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great: tiddlywiki in working again
Annoying: the dialog box that warns that the plugin is working every time you enter a tiddly wiki is really annoying. You can't turn it off :-(

Problem with alfa17 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Same for me, doesn't work any more since alfa17 ( Win 7, FF 17.0.8 ESR ). Where can I find a previous version ? Thanks for the great job !

Problem with alfa17 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

The last alfa 17 does not work on Firefox 22-23 under Windows XP. I reverted back to alfa7 from my backups. It works perfectly.

great [and necessary] addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

i keep all non-secure login info in my tiddlywiki, so thanks for this addon. one request: can you remove the 'enabling tiddlywiki file saving capability' popup window? it's pretty useless once you've been using the addon for months. perhaps an option?

Great extension, though quite spartanic... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Sooo many thanks for TW, and soo many thanks for this extension!!!

In case improvement wishes are welcome, here are my ones:

(1)
the warning message should be configurable; though I really appreciate it, may be it could come a) upon first saving the file, b) only once (ever!) for a single URL or c) like now; since different users have different oppinions this should be made configurable (preferrably using a neat little "settings" window, but I'd also take about:config; background: I'm using TW to create a Firefox startup page, which should not display a warning each time the browser comes up... my only option now would be a local HTTP server, which micht be a little overdone

(2)
I would really love to have such an extension for chrome, too, but maybe that's another story...

Thanks for the review. Brief answers:

(1) Option (b) is the behaviour of the latest version, which you can download from https://github.com/TiddlyWiki/TiddlyFox/raw/master/tiddlyfox.xpi

(2) Yes, I'm hoping to create a Chrome extension. Sadly it won't be able to work in the same way as TiddlyFox as Chrome doesn't permit extensions to access the file system.

No longer works with tiddly-twab Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks for TiddlyWiki!! I enjoy it daily.
I also use the variant tiddly-twab and it appears that TiddlyFox versions later than alpha8 (e.g. alpha11) do not work with twab.
Platforms: Fedora18 w/Firefox19, Win7Pro w/Firefox18

Hi Mike - thanks for the review. The code TiddlyFox uses to detect whether a file is a TiddlyWiki has changed recently, and old versions like 2.2.4 are no longer being detected. I'll fix it and let you know here when there is a new version

[essential] Works as advertised Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I can't fault it so far. And the later version is faster (or is Aurora getting faster?). Note: I revised my comments following Jeremy's updates.

Ensure you are up to date. It stopped working with the Arora 23.0 version, I had to upgrade to TiddlyFox 1.0alpha3.

Problem with French accents - solved Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks so much to Jeremy Ruston. The new api file is awsome. I just spent 30 minutes testing, and the problem with encoding is definitely solved. So I'll go for another five years without losing a single tiddler, I hope. Thanks again.

Codage UTF8 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Bonjour,

le problème est simple pour les caractères accentués : il faut avoir la possibilité de choisir entre codage ANSI et UTF8.
Un petit paramètre à régler dans le plug, et le tour est joué.

Does not install on Android Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Hi Jeremy,

the extension does not install on mobile Firefox for Android, neither on v18 nor on v19 (Firefox Beta). I tried all available versions of tiddlyfox, but Firefox rejects
installation saying the extension was not compatible.
I can't install it manually either, since on my GalaxyTab the Firefox user folder isn't accessible (would need root rights)

Regards,

Please could you try installing TiddlyFox using this URL directly in Firefox:

https://github.com/TiddlyWiki/TiddlyFox/raw/master/tiddlyfox.xpi

I still don't have a Firefox device to test on, so I'm being guided by user reports here. Some users have reported success:
