Thank you for saving my time and my eye! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It's more than helpful when you want to search for and highlight multiple words across a long article or web page. Simple, Fast and lightweight (only 50 KB).
But it seems it doesn't highlight one letter for example if I'm looking for $.

reply: Thanks for your quick helpful response Eduard. Next time I'll look for option button first ;)

> But it seems it doesn't highlight one letter for example if I'm looking for $.

Actually it does! You have to set the option "Minimum length for the words to be highlighted" to "1", though. See the doumentation for more information:

Wonderful Addon - but... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I´ve been using this Addon for many years. In combination with another Addon "SearchBox Sync". This makes searching so much easier!
But unfortunately SearchBox Sync only sync one way. If I use Google-Website Search the terms will not be shown in SearchWP box. May be the developers can help here. However, thanks a lot for the great job they made during the last ten years!!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7).

Hi, could you please provide more information on your issue (preferably open an issue on the project page, see https://code.google.com/p/searchwp/issues/list or https://code.google.com/p/searchboxsync/issues/list respectively).

I'm using SearchBox Sync myself and I'm not aware of any compatibility issues with SearchWP.

Thanks to authors for a wonderful addon!
But ...
1. When you want to copy the text on the page, where there are highlighting by SearchWP, sometimes selection, which is made using a mouse, reset, and it is necessary to select the text again or turn off highlightings.
Please correct this, if not difficult.
2. I'd love to be able to change the colors of highlighting and increase the number of different colors. It would also be good to change the order of colors.

Best wishes and success to authors

EDIT:
Eduard, thanks for the detailed reply

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7).

2. is already possible. Check the FAQ [1] for instructions on how to change the highlighting colors. By using the hidden setting "extensions.searchwp.highlight.tokensCount" (see Documentation [2]) you can set the number of colors that will be used (you have to specify custom colors if you use more than the default 5 colors).

1. is probably not easy, but I'll look into it if i get the time (there are other changes that need attention first, though, so it might be a while). Anyway I filed it as a bug on SearchWP's project page [3].

Could you add opption for highlight & search whole search terms? When enabled It finds & higlight eg. elvis presley not elvis & presley seperately.
Thank you.

Sorry, quotes are my mistake, just forget it. Actually I mean an option that always search & higlight whole search term.Cutting each words for me cause lots of coloured clutter & it's hard to find exact search terms.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7).

If you enter "elvis presley" compared to elvis presley without quotes this is the exact behaviour of SearchWP (works similar to Google search).

good addon Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I wish for a function about searchbox's highligt.

When page is loaded or tab is switched, searchbox's highlight changes gray(disable) If searchword is not found 'automatically'.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7).  This user has a previous review of this add-on.

This is a good idea!
It might need some thought first, because we'd need to search the page for the search terms on page load which would consequently slow down page loading times. However the perfomance decrase might be negligible in which case I don't see a reason not to implement the feature.

Your feature request is tracked on SearchWP's project page, see https://code.google.com/p/searchwp/issues/detail?id=99
You can report future feature request directly on the project pages to keep the review section clean. This also guarantees no feature request is lost.

could be better Rated 4 out of 5 stars

could add highlighting to the scroll bar as other extensions do

more importantly, word button are forgotten after browser restart - you have to click in the search bar, then click outside of it to re-buttonize the words

EDIT: thanks to the dev for his reply ;)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.7).  This user has 5 previous reviews of this add-on.

I assume you're also using the add-on "SearchBox Sync" (otherwise search terms wouldn't be remembered across browser sessions)?

Your problem is tracked at https://code.google.com/p/searchwp/issues/detail?id=98 and will be fixed in a future release.

Great add-on, but it's breaking some native functionality, for example I can't use the shortcut "gt"to get a google translate :-\

Erleichtert die Suche !!!!!!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Finally dropped the ancient Google Toolbar. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Huge thanks... FF29 forced me to drop the ancient Google Toolbar for good and one of the "killer apps" was the ability to highlight AND find words within the current page. Now I can just use the built-in search combined with your plug-in. And it works perfectly. Awesome!

In text areas it only highlights the current match. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

●In text areas it only highlights the current match, but not all the matches.
●Option to remember the searchbar words when customizing the toolbars and if possible between sessions after restart Firefox.

This is a must have for anyone who does serious Internet searches. I do accounting research for a living and SearchWP saves me time and saves my eyesight. :)

Only 1 problem I can see: the Contribute button does not work. :) Given the use I get out of this extension, I am disappointed that I can not support its development.

Feature Request Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Great add-on
There are a few things, specially point 1, that could be further incorporated:
1) Wildcard support - I often use wildcards like 'polymer*' to search in Google.
However SearchWP actually searches for the word polymer followed by a star.
It is functionally essential that this behavior be changed.
2) Support for more than five colors required for additional search terms
3) If a search term is not present in the page, the corresponding button should be greyed out.
4) Scroll bar highlighter (with corresponding colors) - This would be totally awesome.
5) Compatibility with Foobar, Omnibar or similar add-ons.

Easier way to implement workaround Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Thanks to Khun Roger for this workaround. His modification worked perfectly for this indispensable add-on. I found an even easier way to implement it:

1. Open the xpi file in 7zFM.exe.
2. Navigate to chrome > searchwp.jar > content. You don't have to extract or rename anything.
3. Right-click searchbox.xml and choose Edit.
4. Make the replacement that Khun Roger describes, window.getBrowser().fastFind --> gBrowser.selectedTab.linkedBrowser.fastFind.
5. Save the edited file and accept 7-Zip's prompt to update it in the archive.
6. Exit 7-Zip and again accept the prompt to update the archive.
7. Install the modified xpi.
