Broken in 41b.
Set to open new foreground tab -> Enter key do nothing. Enter with modifiers works as expected.

Support page returns 403

sometimes it stoppes reverting to the default search engine Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I use it since some years now, and I must say, its a great help and a good addon!

Sometimes (I don't know why, but mostly suddenly :) it does not work anymore,

I now quote the review by Ed from January 4, 2013, which covers my expericence exactly:

"I have the latest version installed, which was working fine for a while. For some reason, my search box has stopped reverting to the default search engine, even though I have that option selected. The search box does automatically clear its text, as I have selected. I have Searchbar Autosizer installed as well."

Some hours later or some FF restarts later, it works as it should.... nobody knows why and its definately not a showstopper :-)

Useful Addon, thank you.

Thanks for updating this to work with FF29, and the new "blur" feature!

Would you consider adding a feature to make the searchbar submit a search when the search engine changes?

Meaning that I can enter a search term into the search bar, and then change the engine (eg. from Google to Bing) and as soon as I click the new engine, it will submit the search query to the new engine for me - so I don't need to click the search icon myself. That makes it a lot faster to switch engines on-the-fly.

That sounds like a useful feature. I will work on it. Thanks.

Must have add-on with little changes I offered below Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Best addition to search bar function.
But ONE additional function (Annoyance) need to be added (fixed) I suppose if possible:
- function to change to def. search engine after search field is cleared (optional to after curtain time) because when changing s.e with filled s.f. causes to load default(to changed) s.e. is problematic.

doesn't work with nightly 29 or 30, dunno it's because of bugs of nightly or not.

0.7.4 does not work with Firefox 17. Enter does not start search.
0.7.3 works fine.

Great utility Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is a great utility.

Note: Trying to search with the current version (Nov 14) does not work on Firefox 16.0.2 on Windows 7 with classic desktop theme.

Recent updates have broken this for me. :( Pressing enter no longer consistantly performs a search (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't). Very puzzling. Reverted back to 0.6.3 for now. :/

I give 5 stars because until now it has been excellent - been using it for a long time.

If I just change default search engine to any other, without adding text or use him, he don't reset to default engine marked in addon?

Simply great! Exactly what I needed: auto clear search bar + open search results in a new tab. Keep it updated please.

It's worse than I initially realised -- if I select the preference for loading results in background tabs, middle-clicking makes them load *in the current tab*, which effectively reverses normal Firefox behaviour.

I've looked at the code, and it looks like middle-click is treated as one of several possible modifiers which change the loading behaviour. Holding down the shift key modifies it in a different way. The modifications seem to be pretty random and unpredictable:

current tab pref + left click: current tab
current tab pref + shift: background tab
current tab pref + middle click: foreground tab

(That looks like standard Firefox behaviour.)

foreground tab pref + left click: foreground tab
foreground tab pref + shift: background tab
foreground tab pref + middle click: current tab

background tab pref + left click: background tab
background tab pref + shift: foreground tab
background tab pref + middle click: current tab

There seems to be no way to make a middle click load something in a background tab (without holding shift), and the reversal of middle-click behaviour if either of the new tab options is set effectively makes this extension unusable for me.

The behavior of the modifier keys was designed to give you full control of where the results are loaded.
