status bar Rated 2 out of 5 stars

i unchecked "show in the statusbar" yet redirect remover insists on keeping it there. latest 32bit firefox. Annoying, will have to uninstall. in addition i don't see that it's even cleaning links for a lot of situations. For example, goto mailinator and and receive some mail that contains an a outside link, like activation or some subscription or signup for some website service or whatever. Clicking on any of those links from within mailinator and it goes through a series of redirects and click trackers. Redirect remover fails completely to clean the links.

Ensure the URL does not contain a %3F, if so, it will resolve the reference to a ? instead of passing the %3F to the output URL. There could be other %'s missed too (Also had problems with the yahoo search engine too).

This addon was brilliant. Great pity that it's discontinued...

Replaced by RedirectCleaner Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Replaced by RedirectCleaner, but Clean Links is better (or Redirect Bypasser if you have CPU cycles to waste).

NO LONGER WORKS!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

This add-on WAS awesome, but for a while now, IT DOES NOTHING AT ALL... It's become USELESS!!!

Best redirect remover ever! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I use this add-on daily and because there is NO comparable add-on, I am stuck with Firefox version 21. Other add-ons make you hover over a link in order to give you the cleaned link whereas RDR just cleans the actual link which save lost of time if you are opening lots of links with the middle click. RDR can also decrypt encoded links which other redirect removers can't do (last I checked).

This was a perfect little redirect removing extension. It is just too bad it was abandoned by it's developer. Hopefully someone will just update this extension so it can be used with the latest version of Firefox.

Why There is No Update Rated 5 out of 5 stars

In case anyone is wondering why there is no update to this add-on here at Mozilla - the add-on was abandoned, and anyone trying to update it must submit it as a new add-on. However, Mozilla's requirements for new add-ons are MUCH more stringent than when Redirect Remover was first written.

There are a host of issues with the code that boil down to nothing more than sloppiness. But they won't pass review, so just fixing the parts necessary to work with Firefox 22+ is not enough. It is a big over-haul to correct everything necessary to pass review.

In the meantime, you'll just have to use the version that Benton Cliff mentioned in his comment of August 27, 2013.

Now what?? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I've been using this extension since it was first introduced and it's worked very well until now - the latest version of Firefox?? Understandably the owner may not be in a position to update the extension - if so then why keep it on the system?

It's about time that Mozilla introduced an extension housekeeping regime to remove defunct extensions, because by retaining them all that happens is that users get hacked off with seeing good functional tools that don't work.

The only other solution is not to update Firefox - which defeats the object of using a dynamic browser.

please update so it'll work with 23.x-24.x

partialy working for me now. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

download , extract the folder, open/enter the top level folder and zip everything there into a single zip. rename this .zip to .xpi, drag&drop into ffox and install :)
The extension id has changed, no need to remove the original version, in case it might be updated someday.
You spot bugs, you know how to fix ? Fork, fork, fork, folks! Do something!

This addon is great... I used to use it all the time until the update. I really dont see why it no longer works.. I dont think the developer of this addon should have to fix it but mozilla should do something about breaking the compaitibility. Also didnt this website used to prevent you from clicking the install addon button if it wasn't compatible with your version of firefox? this just seems lazy to me. anyone experiencing this problem should do as suggested and downgrade. And remember to disable updates beforehand. I always have mine set to automatically install updates, because I thought (stupidly) for some reason that keeping my browser updated was a good idea.
