I like the simplicity of this add-on, anyhow there are visual bugs with the new Aurora (Firefox 29) interface. For instance, it doesn't show the proxy-list when using it via the new menu. To bypass this bug I have to use it via the Extras menu of the Menu bar.

There is a problem with the zipped xpi file since version 1.30, version 1.22 works fine.
Although the file is installed by FF itself, our package manager refuses due to the errors raised.

View errors with:

This is a great plugin.
In a simple muse movement, I can switch between a local proxy A, a local proxy B, or no proxy at all (essentially when taking the machine out of either company or home network)
Too bad that the proxyselector icon seems to hide itself somewhere for now, in FF 29. But 'm confident that either "this will be repaired soon" or that ... I stumble upon the thing where it is hidden. In that case, I hope to remember posting that here.

Which was quite soon. After posting the above lines, I "found it" ... almost in the TOP of FF29's new "more tools" menu. I was so sure had "looked everywhere", so I suppose that just speaking out what went wrong twisted my fingers/eyes/brains enough to go look where it was.
This is a big relief.

An awesome simple plug-in which does what it claims. Highly recommended. I use it to quickly switch in between no proxy vs Tor Proxy

Proxy selector 1.31 problem Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am usring The Puzzle Piece" as the replacement of Barlesque on firefox 29 beta 1. However, I found one bug. I am also using proxy selector, too. And I found that if I "reopen the firefox", my previous proxy setting on the add-on bar created by "The Puzzle Piece" would disapper. Currently, I move Proxy Selector icon to the navigation bar to avoid my proxy setting gone. Please fix this bug if possible.

Below is comments from the developer of The Puzzle Piece:
That's a bug with Proxy Selector itself, it is listening to general "mouse drop" events to initialize the button, rather than listening to the native CustomizableUI events. This problem will happen with pretty much every add-on that adds toolbars through the Australis system, and you should contact Proxy Selector's developer about this, as a fix for this directly in his add-on would be much better.

Works good, and easy to use and also beautiful icon.
It would be good, If it enhance the excluded websites from filtering. I have a huge list for it.

Great extension Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Can be improved by graying out the plug icon when no proxy is selected. If a proxy has no label then by default you can display the IP number instead of pop error asking the user to write something there.

Not able to add proxy. When press add get only empty window. Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I downloaded Proxy selector and I am using Firefox version 15.0

When I click Manage Proxy and click Add, I am getting an empty window (saying configuration settings) and this window doesn't have any from or input fields

How I can add user & password protected proxy? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This plugin works perfect with plain proxy. Is there a way to use user & password protected proxy without typing user & password each time?

Please solve the problem with the recent Nightly builds. There are double labels. (Or how can I remove one of them from inside the XPI?)

I don't understand your report:
"add" button open an empty form that you have to fill with your proxy info.
Could you please explain the issue by email? (michele dot pezza at gmail dot com)

Works great, only some minor bugs using Firefox 21 under OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion):

- When changing configuration via the toolbar button, the config window can not be closed (need to close firefox)
- When switching to a different proxy, the previously used proxy stays checked in the toolbar's context menu
- In the German translation the entries for automatic configuration and configuration via specified URL seem to be swapped

PROXY LISTS AND IMPORTANT PROXY BASICS Rated 5 out of 5 stars

PROXY LISTS AND IMPORTANT PROXY BASICS

**** TYPES OF PROXIES

It is also important to note that :

-- Not all proxies are the same -- in regards to your privacy.

There is MORE THAN ONE KIND OF PROXY.

A "transparent" proxy (very common) will send your original IP address in the HTTP header so a well made site can still grab your IP address. It will still manage to stop most site blocking actions.

-- FOR REAL PRIVACY

You really want at least an ANONYMOUS proxy. With one of these the site you are reaching will know you are using a proxy, but not know your real IP address.

Better yet, use a HIGH ANONYMITY proxy or a DISTORTING PROXY so that servers and web sites can't tell you are even using a proxy.

**** PROXY LISTS

The add-on works great, however as I said there are no preset proxies included in the install or any references to lists of them (maintained lists are far more rare than zombie / abandoned web pages)

After MUCH web searching and testing, I found that nearly all lists consist of proxies that are no longer there, and private proxies you can't use for free.

More searching revealed a few useful sites which *ARE* maintained (unlike those thousands of out of date proxy lists). Mind you not all of the ones on these lists will work or be good as they are not tested as often as they ought to be (they need a simple PERL script that sets proxy details and tries to access a page). Also some of the listed proxies will not work all of the time. Some are also slower than others. TRhese ones at least attempt to be more up to date; although I found that in practice about 2 out of 3 listed proxies on these GOOD sites still don't work - which is far better than 1 out of 20 (or worse) which is what I got from most of the lists I have found.

The main search page for proxies is here

Great, does excatly what I need! Only thing is, I don't like the way the icon and arrow button are presented. There is a huge gap between them! I know it's a minor thing, but it realy anoys me!

Edit* Developer helped me sort this issue out straight away!
