Thanks for your work Diego.
I would like to see a feature in the part "eCleaner":

Show only entries of inactive/not installed extensions.

Unfortunately Firefox does not offer an option to delete all entries of an extension, when you delete it.

prefs.js grows and grows.

Thanks.

Nice. Does what it promises.

Would be nice if the author could post on this page the relevant information for removing conflict with User Agent Changer (and I mean the precise info, we are not all as good at this sort of thing).

And yes, I do read some of the previous reviews when writing my own and sometimes, if I agree with them, I will repeat their words. I am sure I am not the only one. If this offends the author, I apologize.

Either way, you have an excellent add-on.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5).

No offense. Well, if the instructions here on the AMO listing page does not help enough (I understand regular expressions isn't something everybody is familiar with), feel free to file issues on the Github tracker and i'll try to help, no problem.

Good. But needs more flexibility (a one-click way of adding exceptions to monitoring). The cleaner is good. Sadly, no way of getting its own button easily onto the toolbar. Recommended!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.5).

Thanks for your feedback, you are indeed right and therefore such a one-click solution has been implemented, feel free to help betatesting it by installing the new version from the Github repository at https://github.com/diegocr/PrefMon - which you can do by using the GitHub Extension Installer Add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/addon/github-extension-installer/

Kind Regards.

Just the thing for the security obsessed. Should have a one-click option for saving exceptions, though.

Great add-on, but changes to print.tmp.* need to be whitelisted. Even after including .*:print\.tmp\..* in the whitelist, Preferences Monitor continues to create multiple alerts when printing.

The developer says that '.*' can't be used, even though it's a valid regex. Since 'print.tmp.*' is changed "by" the site you're attempting to print content from, it will have to be whitelisted in the extension itself. This happens regardless of whether the user invokes the print dialog manually or presses a "print" button on a page.

.*: is not valid, it have to be the (case-sensitive) name of who is changing the pref.

Bug?: RegExp strings including capital letters aren't ignored Rated 5 out of 5 stars

To reproduce the problem:
1. Add a RegExp string including capital letters like ";tabmixplus:extensions\.tabmix\.replaceLastTabWith\.type" to "Ignore By Add-On".
2. Unfortunately, it doesn't work(not ignored). :-(

Workaround for users:
Use lowered letters instead like ";tabmixplus:extensions\.tabmix\.replacelasttabwith\.type", which is ignored as intended.

Perhaps you use toLowerCase() somewhere, and test RegExp without "ignore case" flag?

smoothwheel Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Running with 17 ESR on CentOS 6.4
I cannot ignore / whitelist smoothwheel on it's own. All I can do is enter a single . to turn off ALL notifications which is not preferred. Please fix regex in 17 ESR. Otherwise great extension and thank you for writing it.

Could you post a screenshot of your settings and what is being reported as changed?

Some help. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I just wanted this addon for new eCleaner. How do I disable all messages?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.2.2).

Just insert a single dot into the "Ignore Changes On" option.

Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Version 3.2.2 has the ability to ignore the addon along with the value and/or both. It works well with no bugs on FF 19.0.2. You have to format your ignore setting in RegExp (Regular Expression) and it is case sensitive. Some people may have a problem understanding that so this is what you do:

If the info bar for TweakNetwork addon says: (Preferences Monitor: 'tweak' changed the value of "network.http.max-connections"):
Then to ignore tweak changing the value network.http.max-connections would be:
tweak:^network\.http\.max\.connections

Or you could ignore all changes made to network preferences by using:
tweak:^network\.

Or you could ignore all changes by the add-on:
tweak:.

In RegExp a single (non-escaped) dot means everything.

separate each setting by using a ;

It would be nice to have a windows type ignore list instead of having to know how to format the settings but thats no problem for me and I recommend this plugin to keep watch on your about:config file. There must already be a whitelist for some programs because not all addons set it off.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.2.1).

Some windows-based whitelisting editing may comes later, if the user base grows :-)

Thanks for your review

I use Cooliris Previews and the Prefs Monitor keeps popping up every single time I preview a link with Cooliris, which is very often! Could this please be fixed or might there instead be a way to exclude add-ons in a future version? I've only just installed Prefs Monitor but will have to disable it because of Cooliris, so can't comment further on how it works or not. I'll temporarily re-enable it to check eCleaner whenever needed as it's great to have a new version of it.

Brilliant Tool For A Vexing Problem Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I want to thank you very much for creating Preferences Monitor.. Preferences Monitor was no.1 on my extension wish list due to the inexplicable changes taking place whereby all the labor intensive changes made were mysteriously reset back to their default mode.having occurred several times. Thank you once again for your very thoughtful piece of creative genius.that will make my life a bit more secure.and one less thing to worry about.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5).

Great idea and good start Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I'm in exactly that position - something keeps changing my language settings. I've installed this extension and now waiting for it to happen again.

Immediate observations / ideas:
- Ignore certain sources of notifications (the Lastpass extension seems to trigger Type 3 notifications a lot)
- 'More Info' button opens multiple copies of the error console - could it check and just bring the open one to the front?
- The 'cross' icon in the error console makes it look like you can click to clear that message, but it doesn't do anything...
- The error console was (randomly?) cleared, so now I can't see if I missed the change I was looking for - might not be this extension which did that, but if not, need a dedicated logging window rather than relying on Error Console.

Cheers,

D.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4).

PrefMon 1.5 has been released.

- Issues 1-2 should be fixed.

- Issues 3-4 are something of Firefox itself.

Regarding issue 4, the messages on the error console will now get filtered - Usage of the Console2 add-on is highly recommended.

Thanks for your review.
