Terrible Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Was trying to find a simple way to read PDF's using firefox because my Adobe Reader doesn't work, and downloaded this, and whenever I restarted after it finished, all of my bookmarks disappeared, all of my toolbars were broke, as was the home, stop, refresh, back and forward buttons. Luckilly a redownloading of Firefox fixed all of this, but really, that was a terrible experience.

This is a scam Rated 1 out of 5 stars

I downloaded pdfescape a while back and was very pleased with it.

I do volunteer work on web sites for several local youth sporting organizations, I started receiving complaints that some links on the web site were not going to the correct locations. I looked and they were going to PDFescape. I figured no big deal, I changed the links and uploaded again, looked the web site over and the links I changed were okay, but the other links that were good were now pointing to PDFescape. I had to use the hosting server software to change the links. This is true on all the web sites that I worked on.

DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS SOFTWARE.

Works really well.
Little slow to load files I choose to edit, but all in all great for being free. Wish there was an option to download instead of just open, edit, or cancel.

Bookmark Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Why do so many have a problem to register? Is it a hassle to give them your junk mail account for a free tool ? (Image all the work behind ! +for free !)

This is great !
In case, you get max. 2Mb/50pages upload.
+ it's COLLABORATIF http://www.pdfescape.com/pdf/webmasters/sharing/
You pay to create forms for customers to fill in online, so the y don't need software.

What I'd like to know is what difference w/ plugin or not. You can just bookmark http://www.pdfescape.com and use it in the browser.

ps. to previous comment Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Sorry, my question was badly phrased. I should have added that:
* I have the extension installed and activated
* what I understand from the description of the extension is that I should either be getting a prompt to choose whether to open an url in PDFescape or that it should be doing this automatically.

What does this extension do? Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Please could someone explain what the PDFescape extension does?

Is it "just" an add-on that allows access to the online PDFescape tool, in the case of files on the internet by copying the url into the form on the PDFescape website?

Is there also meant to be some means of choosing to open a pdf file from an url directly into PDFescape?

Thanks.

Promising :-D Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It's a really promising extension. A good alternative to other online PDF services. Although I wasn't able to edit text of PDFs (hope it will be able to do so in the future - or maybe I didn't now how to?) it's great. The only thing that I miss are possibilities of opening the PDF file. Currently when PDFescape is active all PDFs are opened online. There is no option to open it with standard PDF program installed on OS or just by default Firefox PDF extension. I was using PDF Download which allow this but PDFescape deactivate all feature of PDF Download ;-(

I tried a bunch of free pdf books, found at multiple sites, and none of them work. This is a beta, do not download if you want to accomplish something with it.

Downloading pdf and multiple windows open Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I don't know what to do - I changed a setting on the pdf extension and now every time I click on a link to a pdf document I get 20+ Firefox windows opening up. I have to Quit Firefox multiple times to stop the onslaught of windows. I an running Max 10.5. I finally uninstalled this extension, but it still keeps happening. What to do?

not bad Rated 3 out of 5 stars

I wouldn't say that it's the best I saw but it's not bad for a free tool. But If I need to fill out my pdf I go to http://pdffiller.com, pay less then $10 and I'm happy.

Works fine - registration is free and doesn't even require you to enter a working e-mail addy.

Whiners!

Anyway, this worked ok for me, but in some fields the text was far too large for me to fit the info into the box and I could not find a way to change the text size.

Apparently, you have to register with 3d party web site to use this add-on. Plus very aggressive ads...

Manfred Schubert’s 'PDF browser plugin' works better in my Firefox 3.0.1, but it is not found here by the add-on search, although I searched for 'pdf' within 'all add-ons'. Strange, isn't it?
