A quick reading solution !
I'm using the panel for showing web pages inside it but when I click on a link, the new page opens in the page not in the panel...

That is the default firefox behavior. The add-on does nothing to change that, as it does not offer any sort of webpage-in-sidebar functionality. Well, not yet anyway. ;)

There's already a thread in the support page (issue #40 - View Web Pages in OmniSidebar) which you can follow to track when these features are added. But that will still take a while to get to as it's not of the highest priority, and as of right now, webpages in the sidebar are completely outside of the add-on's scope and intents. I hope you can understand that what you are mentioning really has nothing to do with the add-on.

The Stylish Sidebar Manager is dead (in Stylish 2.x). :( Long live the OmniSidebar Add-ons Sidebar User Styles tab! :) ...doesn't look too different--maybe even better. Thanks!

Best sidebar add-on ever! There are some tiny bits details that can be improved, but I'll leave it for now as it works great anyway.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.5).

I'm glad you like the add-on! You're welcome to leave me an e-mail or open an issue in the support thread about those details you mentioned, I always listen to every input so that I can improve the add-on wherever I can. Maybe some of those are things I already plan to do even. :)

excellent! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

since the font size for the add-on panel was increased in 1.5.1b2, i have no issues with this add-on

i've used AiOS for a long time and it is also very good, but i much prefer the sidebar switch in Omni since it does not use any space of the document width

Hervorragend! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

OmniSidebar löst bei mir jetzt All-In-One-Sidebar ab, einfach genial, auch das man bei Bedarf zwei Sidebars links und rechts benutzen kann. Perfekt!

This is THE addon which makes a real change to firefox's sidebar. Nice Idea, And keep it up!

Will re-rate 5 stars if you implement a downloads sidebar toolbar button. Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Amazing!! I have only 5 addons so I'm very strict and picky about what I install. Be proud that you made it :) What did it for me was the sidebar toolbar and the way I can switch between bookmarks, history, addons, and downloads. Except for one tiny thing: the downloads buttons shows the balloon popup instead of just switching to the downloads sidebar. I know I can bring up the balloon and click show all but I want to bypass the balloon notification. Thanks.

EDIT - 12/18/2014:
Okay, you got me. I installed that download manager addon and it did what I wanted. Up to 5 stars you go! Thanks for the quick reply too; didn't know addon devs were so active.

Thanks to you I finally have my perfect browser: http://i.imgur.com/kFSnJPi.png

Minimalistic, yet utilitarian. No wasted space; no wasted time.

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

That's a good suggestion, I will add a Downloads Sidebar button in the next version; it makes sense since it already includes equivalent buttons for the bookmarks and history sidebars. You really didn't need to lower the rating just for this by the way, (I always read every comment and address it when I can.)

In the meantime, you can already achieve that behavior by installing an add-on called "Download Manager Tweak", and enable its preference "Open in the sidebar". It's true that It includes a bunch of other stuff as well, but you can disable all of it (if you don't want it) by just disabling a few other preferences in it. If that doesn't work for you please let me know either by e-mail or through the support page, as here isn't the best place for this kind of discussion.

Great addon! Very simple and easy to use, it's rescaleable, light, you can open bookmars in new tabs on the fly etc.
Good job devs !

Not working Fx 34.05 Rated 5 out of 5 stars

All working again for me too

Rather than an in-situ upgrade I did a reinstall of Fx34 in preparation for installing the beta. Guess what - Omni Sidebar 1.4.7 was working again as was Vertical Toolbar.

I conclude the problem was created by the Mozilla in-situ upgrade rather than by Omni Sidebar not being compliant.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.7).

I was working on it as you were writing apparently. :)

Please try the latest beta version 1.5b4 like I mention on github. (edited for correct version number)

This has gradually become my favourite sidebar add-on, I now prefer it over AiO.

If I could make one request though, it would be to have the "close/hide the sidebar when it loses focus" option accessible without having to open the options dialogue ...

How about a simple "pin" button on the sidebar?

I'm glad you like the add-on!

Hmm, I understand what you mean, but I don't believe this will be a viable option. Not because it's not possible (of course it is) but if I add a button now for this feature, I won't have an excuse for not adding other buttons for other features as well, and if there's a button there for every feature the add-on has, it can quickly get out of hand with tons of buttons (even if they can be hidden somehow, they would still be visible by default as I wouldn't have it any other way).

Also, I don't think it's the kind of functionality that should be found in the sidebar itself. But maybe I can add a sort of options menu, with a few shortcuts to some of these preferences, and place it in the sidebar. I'll think about this.

I'am sorry i translate in english :

Great extension!

Except a small bay-mol, when I decide to hide the menus, such as "the slate Javascript", it does not mask, it remains on the menu.

Is this normal?

That's what I don't understand, how can you "hide" the menus? I don't know of any such thing... Please send me an e-mail about this or use the support page to open an issue, it's not very convenient to have a discussion like this here.

Icons keep resetting! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

My main sidebar icons keep resetting now and then and i have to customize them all back, know what could be?

This should be fixed in the next version. If when you update it still happens for you, please send me an e-mail or open an issue in the support page to let me know.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.7).

Unfortunately I'm not sure I understand what you mean. The scrollbar position for the history sidebar (or any other I believe) isn't supposed to reset and scroll back up when you click something. It would be very counter-productive I think if this happened, because if you're looking for multiple things, you usually start at the top and go down sequentially. If you had to go back to the top every time you click something and go through everything you had seen already wouldn't bring you much of an improvement at all.

You can drag and drop these sidebar buttons to the addon bar and where ever you want. Great addon!

It looks great! The only thing is I really don't understand how sidebars work, I guess. How do I change the content in it? The first time I used it bookmarks were in it, which is great because that's what I wanted it for, to access bookmarks and hopefully history in full screen (perhaps this is the wrong thing for that). But then I clicked on add-ons and I don't know how to change it from that. I un-checked the box to make it always open add-ons. I can't seem to drag anything over there. I know it's just me, but I wish there were some general instructions. ;)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.4.7).

I guess there aren't any instructions because the sidebar itself, and its basic functionality, already exist in firefox. :)

There are several ways to change the sidebar.
- You can use the keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+B for bookmarks and Ctrl+H for history);
- you can enter customize mode and drag any of the sidebar buttons you want anywhere on the browser, or the OmniSidebar button (simply called "Sidebar" or "Main Sidebar" if you have the twin sidebar enabled) which you can left click and right click for a different functionality;
- there's OSB's own keyboard shortcut;
- you can click directly on the sidebar's name to change it to another sidebar from the dropdown menu that appears.

And I'm sure there may be other ways that I'm even forgetting now. :)
