Why was OmniSidebar created?
Since I use the sidebar a lot, I was looking for something that would allow me to customize and style better my sidebar, but the closest I found was the All-in-One Sidebar extension and I thought it was too heavy, most of its features I would never use and I could not theme it the way I wanted. So I decided to try and make my own extension, making it a simple sidebar that I can access and use quickly, easily and style properly with any kind of theme, while following the way of Firefox 4 of saving screen space for browsing.
The OmniSidebar name is not related to this add-on having -all- the features, which it doesn't and that's precisely what I tried to avoid, but from being so easily accessible, especially while in autohide mode, that it seems like it's always there, being omnipresent.
What's next for OmniSidebar
I'm open to any suggestions you may have and always try to be prompt in responding. So feel free to contact me in any way if there's any specific feature you would like to see, or to report any problem you run into. Development of the add-on is ongoing. Updating it to work with the latest firefox versions is always a priority, as is fixing any bugs and incompatibilities with other add-ons that may arise.
Despite this, the effort needed to maintain the add-on, and to keep improving it, is rapidly becoming unsustainable. So its active development will now highly depend on you.
