It's a perfect add-on. Has been updated with all newer versions of FF. Does as it says. Small, quick, simple. If you have a customized home page or simply a place that you always like to start, this is a must have add-on.

Works fine but doesnt go to homepage when you close all tabs, it goes to a blank tab. Fix that and its perfect.

I don't understand why this functionality doesn't come by default in Firefox...

This is a great little add-on & should be included in the standard 'customize' buttons. I especially like that, when I open a new window, both my homepages open in tabs.

Great add-on, works in version 3.5 with minor hack Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love this add-on. Here's how I made it work in Firefox version 3.5 which unfortunately does *not* have this as a standard option. Although it won't install into Firefox 3.5, I was able to do it with a very minor hack, and it seems to work without any problems on my system.

1. Download the xpi file for this extension.
2. Change the extension from xpi to zip.
3. Use your zip software to unzip the archive.
4. Edit the file install.rdf with a text editor by changing the maximum version number from 3.0 to 3.5.
5. Re-zip the archive.
6. Change the extension from zip back to xpi.
7. Install the extension into Firefox 3.5

The lack of this feature has been bugging me for years until just now after I finally got fed up with having to move my mouse over to the Home icon every time when I open a new tab, I decided to finally take some time to look for a solution and, thanks to Google, my search went straight to this add-on. Now I feel so much happier to be able to have my Home Page (which happened to be Google.com) loading every time I am pressing Ctrl+T :)
Thanks Ben!
BTW I am running FF v3.10 and it's working just fine with this edition!

FF 3.0.10 does not work Rated 3 out of 5 stars

This addon does not work for me. Any response to any opening of tabs! Annoyingly, in fact the concept of this addon has liked me...

Fantastic add-on; works exactly as described, and very lightweight. I noticed that if you set your homepage to chrome://browser/content/history/history-panel.xul (the History sidebar) and arrange the entries "By Most Visited", this add-on can be used as an alternative to Auto Dial and New Tab King. Only one thing you might want to add, though: Is it possible to adjust it so that the user's homepage loads in ALL blank tabs, and not just the newly opened ones (as with Speed Dial, Fast Dial, and Desktop)? That way, users won't wind up with an empty page if they close their last tab by mistake.

Why this isn't an option in FF is beyond me. Most of the time that I'm ctrl-T'ing, it's for my home page (Google).

This finally solves a handicap that Firefix has against IE and Safari. In both browsers "Open new Tab with homepage" is only a checkbox in the options away, why not here...

I find this add-on very usefull, a godsend in fact. When I installed firefox 3.0.8 it stopped working. It took me a while to work out why but I got there in the end. I also use (All in one side bar). I had to go to settings and in automatic load, un-tick "load in new tabs" then put a tick in "load in new window". Now it works like a dream.

Works like a charm with Firefox 3.0.7. Thanks!

I gave up on getting NewTabURL 1.6.0 to work.

(bypassing) the problem Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Another way to bypass the problem is to add your favorite search engine in the search bar in the top right corner of the firefox browser. Instead of clicking with your left-mouse button (right-mouse button for left-handers) click the scroll button instead (if there is such a feature in your mouse)
