An excellent accessibility add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am an optometrist who specializes in low vision care, and I have been demonstrating LowBrowse to my visually impaired patients who are computer users ever since it's release (I examine patients at a vision rehabilitation agency and also in the VA). The patients have uniformly found it very beneficial, and very much appreciate the ability to customize how they view text on the internet. And the speech support is especially beneficial to some of my more severely impaired patients (of course, the quality of the speech varies with the operating system, but even in XP, it's not bad!). The fact that it is a free add-on just makes it that much more desirable to many of them. Kudos to the developer.

The add-on visually impaired users can't live without ... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

... and wonde how come they have been surfing the web without it until now.

Well, simply, because it didn't exist. It may sound a bit over the top, but this marks a new era for Internet accesibility, folks. The add-on is not perfect, of course, it's still a work in progress, things will have to be improved and new features will surely be added (check their f.a.q.). But this is definitely heading in the right direction. Great job, people!

A suggestion for the developers: make the text window work with the search engines box in the same way as it already does with the URL field (what about Ctrl+Alt+E?)

A suggestion for visually impaired web surfers, install this add-on NOW! Read the instructions at the developer's page and you'll be up and running in no time.

Lowbrowse is anything but low brow Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I have a teen-age son with visual deficits who has trouble navigating the internet and seeing and reading the materials available on the web. The two LowBrowse add-ons that magnify the text and bring speech to the text have been real door-openers for him. The programs are simple, intuitive and allow the text to be made quite large. The fact that they are available for free is wonderful and makes them accessible to all. Great product! Hope there will be other add-ons in similar vein that facilitate use of EMAILS by enlarging text and adding speech to ALL fields in email programs, including text, send-from, and send-to fields, as well as for email address books.

Websites Are Now Accessible Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I am pleased that LowBrowse is available for FREE to everyone. Though I don't have low vision issues, I have many elderly relatives and friends who struggle with their computers and they will be very excited when I help them install and use LowBrowse to improve their web surfing abilities. I'm letting everyone I know who works in the geriatric field about it.
