Google changed back (for now) Rated 5 out of 5 stars

For AdBlock, it's back to
google.com###col1_contents

For Stylish, put
#col1_contents{display:none}
back in the list of commands.

For both, you might as well leave the .G-LR code, since they'll probably switch back.

Stylish changes Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is an addendum to my February 19 comment about using Stylish. Google changed their iGoogle code around the April 1, 2011, and some Stylish adjustments need to be made:

ADD .G-JK{display:none}
CHANGE #col1_contents{display:none} TO .G-LR{display:none}
CHANGE #regular_logo{display:none} TO .gsealog{display:none}

Here are the revised Stylish commands:

-----FROM AFTER THIS LINE-----
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document url-prefix("http://www.google.com/ig") {

#gb{display:none}
#nhdrwrap{height:100px;overflow:hidden}

#gsea{display:none}
.gsealog{display:none}
.gseaopt{display:none}
#btnG{display:none}
#btnI{display:none}
.G-JK{display:none}
.G-LR{display:none}

}
-----TO BEFORE THIS LINE-----

Any of the commands between the curly braces can be deleted if you want.

These were changed or added on April 1:
G-LR: removes the left "Home" column that many people do not like
gsealog: removes the iGoogle logo
G-JK: removes the "Change theme" & "Add gadgets" links

And these are the same as before:
gb: removes the Google menu bar across the top of the page
nhdrwrap: sets the size of the iGoogle header; change the "100" to however many pixels you want
gsea: removes almost everything from the header (use G-JK also to remove everything)
btnG: removes the Google Search button
btnI: removes the I'm Feeling Lucky button (that's a capital i in "btnI", not a lowercase L)
gseaopt: removes the "Advanced Search" & "Language Tools" links

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.9.6).

A free option for Tab Remover Rated 3 out of 5 stars

A great option to the broken Tab Remover is to use the free Stylish add-on. I already had it installed for use with another site. This week I found out Stylish can really clean up iGoogle, and Tab Remover has been uninstalled.

1. Download Stylish 1.1 from the Mozilla Add-ons and install it.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/

2. Open up your iGoogle page.
3. Right-click on the grayed-out Stylish "S" in the bottom right corner of the browser window.
4. Select "Write new style" and click "Blank style".
5. In the "Name" box, enter any name you want (I use "iGoogle Fixer").
6. In the big white box, under the "Wrap lines" checkbox, copy and paste this text that's BETWEEN the -----'s:

-----FROM AFTER THIS LINE----
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);
@-moz-document url-prefix("http://www.google.com/ig")
{
#gb{display:none}#col1_contents{display:none}
#nhdrwrap{height:100px;overflow:hidden}
#gsea{display:none}
#regular_logo{display:none}
#btnG{display:none}
#btnI{display:none}
.gseaopt{display:none}
}
-----TO BEFORE THIS LINE-----

The lines between the curly braces do the following. ANY OF THEM CAN BE LEFT OUT!

gb: removes the Google menu bar across the top of the page
col1_contents: removes the left "Chat" column that many people do not like
nhdrwrap: sets the size of the iGoogle header; change the "100" to however many pixels you want
gsea: removes everything from the header
regular_logo: removes the iGoogle logo
btnG: removes the Google Search button
btnI: removes the I'm Feeling Lucky button
gseaopt: removes the Advanced Search & Language Tools links

7. Click save. You can also press Ctrl-S to save without closing the edit window, if you want to play around with the settings before closing the window.The grayed-out "S" in the corner should now be multi-colored, and iGoogle should look very different. To edit the style, right-click on the "S" and select "Manage styles..." Select your iGoogle Fixer and click "Edit".

There are a lot of custom styles people have written for other websites as well. Just right-click on the "S" in the corner and select "Find styles for this site".

I hope this helps someone!
