Great Add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This is an awesome add-on that has helped encourage me to validate all of my websites that I make from now on.

The only recommendation that I would give is to have it validate the CSS too, as in show the warning symbol if the css is not correct. But the link you have to the w3 css validator helps offset the fact that yours doesn't do it.

Keep up the great work!

A very useful tool. While creating pages it is easy to see where errors were made. I have personally used this tool many times over. Thanks.

Hello! Thank you for this superb add-on. Great work! But this Add-on _is_ too _available_ for operating system LINUX: HTML Validator version 0.7x see http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/download_070.html and HTML Validator version 0.8x see http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/download.html -> both are for LINUX 32 bits and also for LINUX 64 bit platforms. Thank you for correction the information "Doplnk Html Validator není pro Linux dostupný". In case when you have some problems, see Problems/FAQs in homepage HTML Validator.

Invaluable! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

HTML Validator is an absolut must have for every quality oriented web designer. It has never been easier to create error free pages. The developer is also very responsive.
Together with Firebug and Httpfox it's everything you can ask for.

Great addon. You do not have to browse to http://validator.w3.org any more.

This is a wonderful tool for web developers. It's by far the most convenient way to test Tidy validation.

Unfortunately, there's still no build compatible with Firefox 3 for Mac OS X.

This was awesome for Windows, but just one question. You say it's available for Linux, but I get the text saying 'x addon is not available for Linux'

Is this just because it isn't available for Ubuntu/Debian?

Excellent piece of kit. Makes life much easier.
Only ever had one problem, and that turned out to be my fault for installing the windows version on a Mac (lol)
Superb addon that means that I can check what's valid without having to trek to the W3c website

Good job Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This validator gives quite accurate results as W3C one. I really like it, especially because it doesn't rely on 3rd party applications or servers (no upload required). Keep up the good work.

the extension now crashes Firefox using gmail Rated 4 out of 5 stars

This is a new issue, because google mail just changed something (only in the English version for now). If you are using gmail (set to English) and the extension is enabled, you click on "Sent mail" and Firefox crashes completely under Windows that is.
Otherwise I like the extension.

Update Breaks on PPC Macs Rated 2 out of 5 stars

I\'ve been using an earlier version of this and have absolutely loved it! But yesterday my updater said there was an update available, and I clicked yes. \r\n\r\nBig mistake. The update does not work with PPC Macs. I had to uninstall it. Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the previous installer?
I'm giving this a five -- the old version was a 9, but the update doesn't work on my machine.

Add on bug

There is no PPC version in addons.mozilla.org. This is a bug of this site. See here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=404160

Thanks.

Ps: This is not fair to put a 5 if the issue is not created by the extension but this website ! :-)

Wonderfull Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Wonderfull, it is the same program used in this extension and real w3c online validator !

OK ish I suppose Rated 2 out of 5 stars

Firstly, the description above is confused to say the least....
"available on Windows only"
"platforms supported, OS X"
"Just a reminder, this is NOT available on mac OSX"

.....make up your mind mate ;)
Seriously though, this simply means you have to go to the website to install it if you're not a windows user, but then the issue arises that it will NEVER auto-update via the firefox interface.

Secondly, this app has a PPC version, but one that hasn't been updated FOR 3 YEARS. I'm forced to use version 0.7.9.5.

Maybe this is why this validator seems to miss more errors than MOST other firefox add-ons available?
It also has an issue with iFrames that other validators don't have.
Finally, W3C online is much more comprehensive (leading me to believe that all this needs is an up-to-date PPC build or a OS X UB build to bring it back up to spec?).

Either way, currently "Total Validator" is better at detecting issues (and conforms to W3C properly), whereas this one has the better GUI and doesn't send the html data to another site.

overall I'd give it 5/10 as it stands.

It is freeware

Hi there,

If you want a PPC version of the 0.841 validator, a Mac OSX PPC user will have to compile it.

There are compilation instructions here:

http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/compile.html

Unhappily, all my Mac buddy are on Intel now and are not interested in compiling a PPC version.
