Why was Hover Nofollow created?
Simon Hayter is a responsible webmaster and website designer from BYBE in Bournemouth, he made this add-on several years ago and is still today widely used by all types of users, from webmasters to bloggers.
We made this SEO add-on because inspecting every element of the page either using firebug or similar was time consuming. We tried out a lot of add-ons and extensions from both the Chrome and Firefox extension library, we found most of them needed to be activated or simply destroyed the style of the page resulting in a poor user experience when browsing sites.
It must be said that its generally a bad idea to create your own links, of course doing a few high quality ones won’t hurt but generally you want natural links, these work best… also, a good mix of various link types, various anchor texts, and a good mix of follow and nofollow. Sites with a poor link profile diversity will not rank well with Google. You should also ensure your links are relevant, a link from a website about cats to a website about cars would be considered poor search engine optimisation.
We plan to support, update and continue development for this plugin as it’s important for our own business while contributing to Mozilla Firefox and their community who share other extensions that we use on a daily basis.
ByBe believes that open source is the best source, and free information is the way forward in all web related platforms. We have been big fans of Firefox since their very first public release and we will continue to support them as they are the best open source browser by a mile off.
