Clever idea, well done Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Looks really good on Win7 Aero. Could use a little polishing, so to speak, but the dev appears to be actively working on it.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1).

Thanks, suggestions are welcome.

Realmente bueno el Theme, pero el unico defecto que le veo es que se realentiza cuando uno se pasea por los marcadores.

Ojala que en futuras versiones arreglen este aspecto

but could you go to the support page http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=2410445 and descibe the problem a bit more clearer in English. Google translator doesn't get it right and I don't speak Spanish.

Awesome addon.
Works flawlessly with almost any other addon or interface modification.

Only aroblem: The text in sidebars like bookmarks is a little hard to read due to the transparent background.
It would be nice if it was possible to give the text a white shadow or change the transparency settings for the sidebar, like with every other part of the window.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.9).

Thanks.

The bookmarks and history sidebar content doesn't allow much customization. Some changes (background color/transparency) would have a negative effect on some other Firefox settings and windows. It is also not possible for bookmark/history content to have text shadows. The only feature I can provide atm, is a font color selector for those text areas. The best aero look! if... Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Nice clear job Aris!
I´m familiar with this full aero style cause I tweaked my ff with stylish and it looked just like your add on, now I use only glassmyfox.
Just like Rob Iverson, perfect if it had an option for full glass buttons, just the back & fw buttons with back frame, and full aero for url bar ;)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.9).

A Glass buttons option will be in next version.

Works well, great options Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Works great. The options are great (though I don't use many of them).
Two issues I have.

First - the toolbar text options give text that doesn't visibly differentiate between disabled actions and enabled actions. Example: look at the Findbar (Ctrl+F) and check the difference between firefox default (where Next etc are disabled) and the GMF default... EDIT: This has been perfectly resolved (5 stars now).

Second, smaller and personal - I don't really like how the navbar buttons look. Even the "glass buttons" option doesn't change it, and they just look too un-glassy for me. EDIT: Much glassier now (was this you or a FF beta update?) Thanks either way.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.9).

Toolbarbuttons will get an option to look more glassy in next version and I'll look into the disabled text issue.

I take back my previous minor complaint, as I saw in a response you posted earlier about the pre-release version of 1.1 and Stylish. Now I have no idea on what to complain about.

(Almost) Perfect Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This add-on is wesome.

However, it looks like it doesn't work with Hide Caption Titlebar Plus ( https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/hide-caption-titlebar-plus-sma/ ). When I try to hide the titlebar, all the transparency and effects disappear. Is there a way to fix this, or to hide the titlebar in a proper way?

Thanks!

Check HCTP settings

In HCTP extension you can deselect in "Look & Feel 1" the solid backgrounds to have full transparency again. Unfortunately it is not possible to remove the default system "min, max, restore, close" icons. HCTP can override them with shadows, colors etc. but not remove them completely. This happens on default FF theme too and has nothing to do with GlassMyFox. That "glitch" is caused by Windows combined with HCTP.

This is an awesome add-on, however it doesn't work properly in Nightly (v13). They implemented a new tab screen, but even when you disable it, it only shows a white screen instead of glass. I hope this can be fixed. :c

Update 02-11-2012: Thanks for fixing that <3

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.9).

Thanks.

The new tab page wasn't transparent because the transparency effect was not implemented for "about:newtab" (only for "about:blank"). I have added an extra setting for that (but it is off by default).

Making FF13s "about:newtab" transparent disables all of its content. "Stylish" extension still needs to be installed to make this happen. Have fun ;-)

Beautiful Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Looks really awesome! The Aero effects are great. The only issue I have is that the addon makes my entire right click menu unreadable (it becomes a black menu with black text, so I can't see the options until I hover over each option individually, which is a huge pain). As soon as that becomes fixed, this will become my permanent theme/addon

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.9).

This is a FF bug, as soon as you restart FF this issue is gone.

Perfect....just perfect Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Exactly what i wanted.
Perfect for any firefox browser on Windows 7. Now I can't stop looking at the beauty of my firefox.

Just one suggestion, would it be possible to make a (thin) top border line on the address bar, so we can see the division between the tab bar and the address bar? I want to know if you are thinking to do something like that.

Anyway, good work and keep going!!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.9). This user has a previous review of this add-on.

I think this line would be possible. Your tabs are above you navigation toolbar, right?

If you have Stylish installed you can try this code:

#navigator-toolbox[tabsontop] #nav-bar {
border-top: 1px solid hsla(0,0%,100%,.6) !important;
}

and give me some feedback, so I know what to include into next update. You can alter the ".6" (.0-.99) for change lines opacity.

*** about your first comment***
It really works on Ubuntu? Didn't knew Ubuntu has glass features, Great to hear. The sidebar functionality is not affected by this add-on, maybe this was something on Ubuntu or had you a speciffic non-standard sidebar in mind?

It looks good, but it makes my FF 10 browser lag horribly. Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I rated this a 4 because it looks perfect and I really wish I could keep it enabled, but as most people like this and don't report an issue, I'm going to have to say that it just hasn't been fully ported to work with Firefox 10 yet since it just came out only a few days ago as of writing this.

I hope to see this lag issue on FF 10 resolved quickly! =)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.9).

Hi Youki,

lags cannot be a GlassMyFox issue when it ran fine before FF10. First I wanted to ask you whether your syste is powerfull enough but after your email it seems this is a Firefox (10?) issue with/on your system.

Try to disable/enable the hardware accelaration in Firefox settings and see if that helps. Or maybe you have to upgrade your graphics drivers?

Here is a small statement how this extension works: The are a lot of IDs in Firefox stylesheets that tell Firefox how it has to look. GMF overrides these IDs (e.g. toolbars, windows etc.) and tells Firefox to use Windows transparent AeroGlass effect instead of the own color setting.

So, if it started to lag on FF10 I suggest you test it first on a clean profile and then test it again on FF9.0.1 and FF11beta1. Maybe Mozilla increased the hardware specs for FF10 or since FF10? I have tested GMF with FF8 to FF13a1 and had no performance issues.

Could you post more information on the support forum describing what hardware are you on etc....

Thanks for good add on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

It is totally beautiful!
One suggestion, how about change its initial setting?
Text in dropdownmenu is not easy to read in first setting. (sure, I changed it into black&white)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.9).

Thanks.

You are right about that setting. I will change that on next release.

Beautiful...!!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars
