I have two questions:

1) Does one one of you have any alternative(s) to this addon? i.e. one that blocks hidden ad trackers?

2) Can a person who works for "Better Privacy" answer me clearly this question: Does Better Privacy log IP addresses of users of Ghostery?

Oh my review: This is functionally a good addon but maybe not worth it if the IP addresses of users are logged in someone's (whoever the someone is) database. As we all know, IP addresses in combination with the time of browsing can be tracked back to the computer user.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.1).

your answers.

Hi oingk! Thanks for using Ghostery.

To address your concerns:
1) You can see what Ghostery is often used with on the side of the addon page (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9609), labeled "Often used with...". Some of those add-ons are alternatives to functionality that Ghostery provides.

2) I'm assuming you mean BetterAdvertising. If so, here is the answer: we do not log IP addresses of a user who've installed Firefox Ghostery add-on. In fact, unless you explicitly point your browser to http://ghostery.com, we would not know your IP at all, since you would of never crossed paths with our servers. Lastly, if you do opt into GhostRank (thats an option in the Ghostery Options menu), your installation of Ghostery will begin sending us data about web-bugs it has encountered. Even when that data is sent to us, we do no possess or store your IP address.

All of this is clearly explained here:
http://www.ghostery.com/privacy-bt -- this is Privacy Policy for Ghostery addons. Please run through an anonimyzed proxy such as anonymizer.com if you really do not want to reveal your IP.

Cheers, and let me know if you have any other questions.
