please show mercy and update! i'm still using firefox 28 because of this australis bs and now websites like gog.com are starting to not work. it's the third time i post this, because my comments are somehow censored.

> please show mercy and update!

I wish that I could say that I was making an update, but I am not going to be doing one due to current situation with "Complete / Heavyweight Themes" (which FOXSCAPE is one).

As discussed at the following two links, Mozilla is going to be removing the ability to theme Firefox. They give no specific date as to when the theme capability will be removed. It could happen at any time, so I refuse to waste my time creating an updated theme that could become useless when themes are removed from Firefox.

At the same time, Mozilla says that they will be implementing a new method to provide the ability to theme Firefox. It is unclear if this new theme capability will be capable enough to fully implement FOXSCAPE. There is also no date mentioned as to when the new theme capability will be implemented in Firefox. You can read more about this at the link below.

Yes, Mozilla filters out reviews that contain any expletives / curse words in them, which your earlier replies did. I did get notifications that included those full reviews, and I feel your pain.

So, let's hope that the new theme capability that Mozilla intends to implement will be capable of doing a new FOXSCAPE theme. If it is, I may make it happen.

i tried to switch over to pale moon but it says, foxscape is not compatible, so i can't activate the theme there. what do i wrong?

i love your theme and it's absolutely bad news that you declaere it dead! because of foxscape i'm still using firefox 28 and things are starting to stop working. because addons still do update, i don't know how to stop them from updating too. is anyone out there who is able to continue this beloved theme?

...but... firefox is getting worse and worse! if your great netscape theme wasn't there, i seriously would consider switching over to opera or some other browser shit! these damn firefox developers have now completely removed this good old download window! but that's another story... and the download-icon keeps changing to downwards green arrow in the first place and then it changes to some kind of pause-icon. is there anything you could do about this? another important question: will your theme still work in upcoming firefox 28 when they change to this australis-bullshit? if not, well... then firefox 27 really will be the last version of firefox i have installed ever. then i really will switch to another browser! seriously i'm starting to hate mozilla! really!!!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (5.15).

As for the download button and the green arrow, I might be able to change things to make the green arrow not appear. I have not invested any significant time in addressing that or anything else due to the coming Australis user interface. I am not looking into what needs to be done to make FOXSCAPE work with Australis. Once Australis arrives I will review the situation and make my decision as to whether I will continue development of FOXSCAPE for Firefox. If I do decide to continue, there obviously will be a long delay before the new version of FOXSCAPE arrives. I may call it quits if things look too difficult to address, or are just too different from the current user interface. It may well be that Firefox becomes unpalatable to my tastes, and likely others. One thing to note is that I believe, from some reading I did, that the throbber (activity indicator) will be gone from Australis. That is something that many users may dislike since the throbbing "N" (with meteorites) is something that most Netscape fans like to see when loading pages.

So, wait and see what comes...

thank you (again)! must have been five or six years ago since i found foxscape and got back the good old netscape-feelings! this is still the most important firefox extension by far (to which i count skins, addons and plugins)! until today i didn't realize, that you have found a solution for this titlebar-icon-problem. :D now i copied the icons to the new destination and it works! thanks! perhaps i didn't realize it because of the auto-updates. v 5.07 of foxscape was the last version i installed manually. :D i'm missing one feature (i'm not sure this could be achieved anyway): is it possible to edit titlebar for changing "mozilla firefox" into "netscape navigator"? is there an addon which could do this? it would be nice, if i could make this happen!

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (5.11).

Thanks for your good review. As for your wish, you can use the "Nightly Tester Tools" addon to modifiy the windows title:
Install it and go to (on menu bar):
Tools > Nightly Tester Tools > Customize Titlebar
and set "Custom title template:" to: "${TabTitle} - Netscape"
(no quotes in string)

in firefox v21 the titlebar-icon (main-window.ico) doesn't work anymore.
it is still where it should be (mozilla firefox/chrome/icons/default) but titlebar shows standard firefox icon.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (5.07).

I am afraid that this issue is due to a bug in Firefox itself. The paths to many files have changed in this version of Firefox due to changes to support Microsoft Windows 8. This may not be a bug, but a "design feature" since, possibly, Windows 8 may not have window icons and that now carries over to older windows versions when using the new Firefox. There also may be a new path into which the icon files can be placed to work. I do not know the answer. Reporting bugs gets you nowhere with Mozilla. I am afraid this feature is used by so few users that no one will report the issue and get noticed by the developers. I have no time to search through the many megabytes of source code to find out the truth to this issue.

All that I will do at this point is wait and hope that someone fixes this bug in the next version.

P.S. this issue is not limited to the main window, but all windows.

UPDATE: as per this discussion: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=2708993
The new path is as follows:
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser\chrome\icons\default

Thanks for your support honx4amiga!

thx for your help! my problem was not the namig (Fx), which i already had right,\r\nthe problem was simply a single mistake of mine, editing userContent.css (see email)! :D\r\n\r\nso, as promised, maximum rating!

as ever, wonderful theme! i just updated to ff3.6 and foxscape 3.03.
but, i encounter some problems in customizing userChrome.css.

for some reason following templates dont work anymore:
this remove_seperators_between_toolbars - line, add_scrollbars_to_the_bookmark_menu also doesnt work.
there are no scrollbars in this booksmarks-menu, but i absolutly love this feature!

and i'm also missing this cylone-style progressbar. (Bouncing_status_bar_progress_meter)

so how can i make these templates work?
when everything works again, you get a maximum rating, as always...

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.03).

I believe that you are having difficulty with the subskins due to the changes I made, as stated in the History section of the readme ( see: chrome://browser/skin/readme ):

Renamed *_in_FF3.css subskins to *_Fx.css
Renamed several subskins to improve naming consistency and clarity

So, the following subskin names in the new userChrome.css template ( see: chrome://browser/skin/config ):

were the following in the prior version of the theme.

You should use the new template and uncomment the lines that are similar to the ones you already uncommented in your modified copy from the prior version. This way you will also see the new subskins that are available.

I apologize for not making a more obvious statement on the main page alerting users to this. My expectation is that you would read the new readme (I know it is quite long) and start over with the template modifications. I do not expect that I will be changing the names of existing subskins in future versions, so you can continue to use your existing modified template copy, without difficulty, when new versions are released.

I do not know what is wrong with the cylon style progress meter on your installation. I believe that I did not change that subskin name. Please make sure that the subskin name is one of the following

It works just fine on my installation.

Please email me with further technical support issues if they arise.

i' just testing foxscape v3.0.2. great work like always!
but two little things: the new edit bookmarks-icon is flat, while the main bookmarks-icon is still shaded.
can you please make the edit bookmarks-icon also shaded OR the main-icons flat so they fit together?
i can't find the corresponding line vor disabling the shadows by myself, i've tried several things!
which line is responsible for that?
and i've tried to skin directory listings by enabling the corresponding line in userContent.css.
it seems that i can't undo the changes. after disabling i still have netscape-like directory icons.

but, great work! continue doing so!!! five stars like always and sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.02).

Wow, you sure are quick. :-) As for the shaded/flat issue, do you have this problem without use of userContent.css and userChrome.css customizations? I suspect that you may have made a mistake in editing. Please send me an email including the following information:

1. The version of Firefox you are using.
2. The platform/OS you are using. (Win, Linux, Mac)
3. A *full screen* snapshot (or snapshots) of the problem in action. Please be sure to make it a *full screen* snapshot of Firefox with FOXSCAPE (not including your desktop) since I may be able to recognize even more things that may not be working as expected. Use a lossless compression image format such as .PNG, .GIF, or .TIFF, in that order. No .JPG files please.
4. Your userContent.css and userChrome.css files.

You can find my email address on http://foxscape.net/ by clicking Contact. Please read the instructions there.

Let's continue this support discussion through email.

Thanks again for the positive review and for taking the time to provide feedback.

great theme! i loved netscape back in past and i love your addon!

how can i reach sandbox to download v3.0.2 for firefox v3.5.2?
i can't find this "show sandbox" checkbox in my profile.
is this missing in the german part of the mozilla.org?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (3.02).

Thanks for the complement. I am not sure about how you gain access to the sandbox. For now, you can go to http://FOXSCAPE.net/ to install the theme. Please let me know if you encounter any bugs.\r\n
