Why was FirePHP created?
I never liked how dumping variables using var_dump() or print_r() destroyed the rendered HTML on a page. I also had no way of debugging AJAX requests properly.
FirePHP is my answer to these problems. I hope you find it as useful as I do.
What's next for FirePHP
I have been working on a complete re-write of FirePHP to make it natively secure, extensible and to bring the same debugging concept to more programming languages. This is a major effort involving a big time commitment over the past couple of years.
You can check out the FirePHP 1.0 BETA now. Support for additional programming languages is planned for 2011.
Any contributions towards this effort are very much appreciated.

Who is cadorn?
I am on a quest to bind a software ecosystem that uses existing open source software as reusable components that are declaratively assembled into applications and maintainable long-term.<br/><br/>Ever since I started programming I have been integrating libraries and tools to experiment with what is possible and how to best combine components to achieve a given result. I have learnt a lot along the way and am now condensing my experience and building a refactorable toolchain platform that meets all my criteria for being able to support component-based development with integrated tooling. This has been a life-long dream and things are finally falling into place.<br/><br/>I spend as much time as I can on this quest. If you are interested in supporting my work you can purchase my tooling or contract with me to apply my experience to your problems.
