Invaluable tool for web developers! Our entire team would be way less productive without it. To bad for the other browsers :-( This would be a welcome addon for Safari and IE for prototyping tweaks between the products.

The world Rated 5 out of 5 stars

What would I do without it?
Well now I got an alternative IE8 and they have tried to make something that works like FireBug, but have they succeed? Well I do not think so; they do not know what a programmer or a stylist have to know to do his/here job, I think people who did FireBug knew.

I think that the people who did this is the one who will bring programming discipline to the next level.

I think this is by far the most effective tool to use when using FF as part of a development environment.

I can't say enough good things about this plug-in. I use it often at work and at home (ok, also a programmer for fun so...) Never had a problem.

Ugh Rated 1 out of 5 stars

As a web developer, I found this a HUGE step backwards for firebug! I've had to downgrade to Firefox 2 in order to use the old Firebug. Wait till firebug clears out its own bugs before grabbing this add-on.

New version has problems Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Not only doesn't the new version have the "disable for this site" but you don't have the green check mark at the bottom of the screen. I like that check mark. Lets me know right away if the page has errors or not.

Now you put a BUG at the bottom. I don't want to look at at bug.

I hate it when people make changes that no one asked for. put it back to the way it was please. I had to go back to using firefox 2.0 and won't upgrade to 3.0 until this is fixed.

scarecroe is incorrect, please read the release notes. They have refined the disable feature to apply to each panel of firebug (console, script, and net) to improve performance. You can also disable/enable per site via the dropdown menu in the upper left of firebug.

Absolutely the most valuable add-on in my arsenal. One of the major reasons why I do not use Safari more.

Watch/Stack switching Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It is very annoying when debugging a function checking the contents of a variable, that the watch window is suddenly replaced by the stack one

automatic watch of Refered global variables Rated 4 out of 5 stars

When debugging a javascript function, it is not enough to display only the local variables in the watch window, but all, in the function referenced global variables must be shown too.
It could be enough to display them when they are first referenced.

For those who are too lazy to read previous posts or the release notes on the firebug website -

"Disable always: when the Firebug UI is not active on any page, the debugger is disabled (minimal overhead)"

Firebug is an awesome add-on I use daily for work which makes it the single most useful add-on for me. I'm impressed with how quickly it's been updated (beta I know but at least they're trying) to work with Firefox 3. On it's own that incompatibility would have stopped me from upgrading.

For the guy who thinks the IE tool bar is just as good, have you tried debugging javascript? Firebug is 10 times more than any other debug add-on in any browser (maybe only 3 times the web dev toolbar) when you know what you're doing.
