Good Add-On Rated 5 out of 5 stars

Very nice Add-On!
I really like it, finally getting rid of that annoying facebook-tracking...

Please add a screenshot to this where the icon is shown. I searched endlessly for it until I finally came across a site where it got activated... ;-)

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.1.1-signed.1-signed).

Good call

We added a screenshot of the icon, thanks.

Disconnects me, not Facebook Rated 2 out of 5 stars

This addon seems to disconnect *me* from a lot of content on various web sites. It may disconnect Facebook, I don't know how to verify that but, I know with it enabled, the content (mostly embedded videos) do not work.

Some web sites did not even display as intended with the addon enabled.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.1.1-signed.1-signed).

Huh?

Do you have *any* examples of broken pages? Facebook Disconnect just blocks Facebook content on third-party pages. (And the blocking is optional — see the instructions.)

You can submit examples here or email support@disconnect.me.

Preference issues Rated 4 out of 5 stars

It does not remember my preferences when I get off.

Cleared local storage?

Thanks for the feedback. We save your preferences in local storage.

Do you have this box checked:

Firefox > Preferences... > Privacy > Clear history when Firefox closes

Or are you manually deleting:

Tools > Clear Recent History...

You can follow up with us here or by email at info@disconnect.me.

Well thanks for the quick response. Where do you tweak the settings on this so I can add or delete items to it's whitelist?

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.1.0.1-signed.1-signed).

The whitelist is seamless

We wanted to make the simplest whitelist possible, so you don’t have to manage an actual whitelist.

When you’re on a site and click the icon in the location bar to unblock Facebook, the add-on remembers to keep Facebook unblocked the next time you go to the site — i.e., the site gets put on a whitelist in the background.

When you block a site, the site likewise gets pulled from the background whitelist.

Nothing fancy but the extension works great so far on Firefox

Finally got rid of those Facebook widgets. Thank you!

Better than the Chrome version, which I've been using problem free for over a year. Blocks Facebook tracking widgets, but shows you what's blocked and lets you unblock if you want to Like or share.

Agree!

I think this is our best (Chrome, Firefox, or Safari) extension so far, too. Thanks for using and reviewing.

What is the whole crap about having to accept a license full of legal mumbo-jumbo for GPL 3.0 software?

It broke FF 10.0, spent the best part of two hours figuring out why. Unforgivable and I will not even try the updated version anymore.

Fixed and live in less than 24 hours

See my replies below — the bug is fixed in version 2.0.2.

I won’t apologize for being responsible and taking the time to write a terms of use, though.

Trouble with FF 10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars

As mentioned by the developer there is a bug preventing FF10 from working unless this add-on is updated. Appears that auto update does not work. Confusing version numbers, I've seen both 1.0.1 and 2.0.2, depending on where I look. Otherwise good initiative and the first time I've had trouble with this extension. FF 10 works again now, after I manually updated the add-on.

Firefox doesn’t support autoupdate

But we repaired the bug in less than 24 hours — in version 2.0.2, as you noticed.

Correction (February 4, 2012): Firefox 4+ does autoupdate add-ons. We’re trying to figure out why users are getting the buggy 2.0.1 instead of the stable 2.0.2.

Update (February 4, 2012): We uploaded a new version (2.0.3), which resolves the updating issue.

Trashed my firefox Rated 1 out of 5 stars

After installing and rebooting my homepage wouldn't appear and my bookmark toolbar disappeared. Had to restart in safe mode to remove this. Not happy.

Oops and sorry!

You uncovered a nasty bug (in version 2.0.1), which we just squashed (in version 2.0.2).

We’d really appreciate if you gave the add-on another try and updated your review. The new version rocks, I promise.

Does not allow any exceptions. There are certain sites I trust to interact with Facebook, but there is no way to unblock them. The extension also blocks my post-to-Facebook bookmarklet. Until this is fixed I cannot use this extension.

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.0.1.1-signed.1-signed).

Does now!

The latest version (2.0.2) lets you whitelist sites (see the instructions above for details).

It’d be awesome if you gave the new version a shot and told us what you think in your review.

Do you mind translating into English?

If Google Translate is anywhere near accurate, I think you misunderstood the purpose of this add-on.

Thanks for the add-on.

There was problem where I couldn't click on links to Facebook any longer. Meanwhile, this issue has been fixed. Thank you Brian!

Verified

Thank you, I reproduced this behavior and filed a bug:

https://github.com/disconnectme/fbdc/issues/7

We ought to be submitting a new version with a fix in the next week.

Update (February 1, 2012): The fix is live!
