@ Thomas Bertels ,
Thanks for your answer. Australis has made the customise toolbars dialogue almost useless for me. A gazillion little pictures to guess about the meaning of. And just to make the game more challenging the pictures are all very, very pale grayish pastels on a light gray background. There is this really neat technology that has the potential to dramatically improve the usability of UIs. I hope the Mozilla folks will think about trying it although it may be kind of radical for them - it's called text. Not your doing of course. I searched and searched for your off button and I think I found it - an itty bitty x maybe? I dragged it toward the bar and it dissapeared about halfway there never to be seen again. But I installed Exit Button and that seems to serve the same purpose and makes a pretty good combo with this.

There must be something wrong, there should be text

Thank you for your new review.
It seems there's something wrong with your Firefox, there should be text below each icon, either in the customize menu or in the new menu itself.
I suggest that you start Firefox in safe mode (by example by holding the shift key and then starting it - be sure to NOT click on Reset Firefox in the following dialog box).
Then if it temporarily fixes the problem, you can try and disable your add-ons one by one (and restarting Firefox each time) to find the culprit.

Really Really Excellent ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

很小巧的扩展,将默认的关闭窗口的按钮的功能修改为关闭当前标签页,对多标签页浏览很有帮助,有点像IE的操作习惯,感谢作者的辛勤工作,希望能持续的更新这个扩展。谢谢!

Perfect little add-on Rated 5 out of 5 stars

This wonderful add-on is one of those tiny little things that I love so much in FF. Thank you!

NO FUNCIONA con Thunderbird 17 !!!! Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Hoy actualice a Thunderbird 17 y no funciona mas. Era un complemento muy util. Probe desactivar y activar, desinstalar e instalar y sigue sin funcionar.

Like it's said...

Fast Close Tabs was marked as compatible with Thunderbird until the version 8.
I just changed it to make it compatible until version 16, but it isn't fully compatible.
However, it has never been marked as compatible with Thunderbird 17, so please refrain from leaving reviews about that.
I don't feel that tab support in Thunderbird is good enough to warrant this extension. The main culprit is the fact that the scroll height isn't remembered when switching between tabs.
However, if someone wants to contribute code, I'll include it happily.

firefox 4? Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I would suggest we go to the tab mix plus board, and request it. I already started a topic in news.

I'll add my voice to the "please make this compatible with FF4"
This addon makes it possible to use my trackpad's close application gesture to close the current tab. This is a tough habit to give up...might have to revert....Help us!

Out of the 28 plug-ins I use, Fast Close Tab is one of the most fundamental plug-in in my setup - I simply could not imagine what I'd do without it! I'm a fast clicker and I have a very sensitive mouse. Fast Close Tab lets me close tabs with one large swipe across the screen without *EVER* missing my target. I no longer have to aim the little x and move the mouse towards each tab I want to close, which is the most annoying thing I can possibly think of doing in a browser (well, that, and change a proxy manually). Some will say -"Use ctrl+w", sure, that works and sometimes I do so (mostly when in window mode), but I prefer using my mouse, that's all there is to it! I feel it to be so much damn faster! If I want to close the whole browser, I don't mind clicking 3 or 4 times to close the tabs; otherwise I just use the additional x button which I placed directly below the red one.I went to Firefox 4, but I switched strait back when I realized that this plug-in wasn't compatible. As far as I'm concerned it is simply perfect exactly the way it is, no more, no less! PLEASE make this plug-in compatible with Firefox 4! I beg you. I'd gladly pitch in 5$ for an update. I need to move my studying laptop to FF4 because it's a weak Atom processor with a powerful GPU which will benefit from the new processing unit shift, but I refuse to pass to FF4 without your plug-in!Please keep up the good work!

It is very good adding on. However, there is one hope.
When I closed the last tab, the window is not closed, and the tab of the blank opens and can want the option which the window closes when I close the blank tab to be available.
Thanking you in advance.

Nice, but introduces a new annoyance Rated 3 out of 5 stars

Now I can't use the upper-right "X" to close the application any more. Sure, there are other ways to do this (e.g., Alt-F4 or the Exit Button add-on), but it requires a change in habit, which is annoying -- and apparently annoyance is what drove the development of this add-on to start with.

Personally, I like how Tab Mix Plus implements tab-closing for Firefox: a "close" button is available on the right edge of the window, near the top, and the original window-closing "X" is unaffected. Perhaps this doesn't solve the author's annoyance at having to precision-locate a button to close a tab, but I think it works well since this button stays in one place instead of being associated with each individual tab.

Anyway, I'm keeping this add-on because Thunderbird's native behavior was driving me nuts, and this isn't so bad, especially with Exit Button installed (then again, it'd be even better if I only needed to install one add-on instead of two). Or maybe I just want the option to open messages in new windows instead of tabs (can we? I haven't figured that out yet).

Use this extention instead: Close Tab By Double Click https://addons.mozilla.org/ru/thunderbird/addon/55539

It isn´t much easier just Middle-click the tab to close it? instead an Add on

This review is for a previous version of the add-on (1.1).

Not for everyone

Because some people (including me) don't want to have to click precisely on a tab to close it. I find it easier to click on the top right corner of the screen to close the tab without even looking at it (like I do for windows).
Additionally, users who don't want to bother with difference between tabs and windows just click on the top right corner and what they expect happens : the page is closed.

good job! Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I was looking for exactly this feature!

My only comment would be: why not switch the functionality of both buttons? So that the top button closes the entire window and the smaller button below it closes the tab? I would like it even better in that way...

Anyway, good job!

Close Button should allow you to get the behavior you want.

This is EXACTLY what I needed to solve an annoying habit that doesn't mesh well with tabbed browsing. See http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=1099015 for the use case. Many thanks to the author.

I like it. It's handy and makes sense. I have an exit button on my toolbar anyway, so I think I'll keep this add-on. Nice job and very clever.
