FF 8.0: Problem Solved Rated 5 out of 5 stars
Just to close this out I thought I'd share my solution. Somehow small icons became my default choice on the Toolbar customization page. Turned that off and color returned. Thanks for the icons! This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.6.1).
Well, the devs have finally tinkered with the UI so much that my theme(s) are broken on Vista/Win7. All of my machines still have WinXP and I have no way of testing on Vista/Win7. I've renamed my theme(s) accordingly and placed a disclaimer in the "About this Add-on" box. Sorry!
Not working after FF 8.0 upgrade Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I don't have Persona and my experience is the same as CatchAsCatchCan. I've installed/uninstalled ColorToolbarIcons multiple times but it doesn't colorize. Worked fine until FF 8.0 (which I also removed/installed but no dice). Thanks. Loved the icons when they were working. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.6.1).
Very Helpful - thanks Rated 5 out of 5 stars
I also found the standard toolbar icons dull and drab. And also would pick the wrong icon as a result. So the colorized enhancement is most welcome. If you do a Revision 02, I would suggest that the forward/backward page arrows need a stronger, brighter color. And the printer icon is still dull grey. But let me end on a positive note: this is terrific. This review is for a previous version of the add-on (2.5.1).
I want to maintain the basic colors of previous Firefox versions on the main buttons (e.g. back/forward, home, etc.). I did take your advice and added a maroon color to the Print button (v2.5.7).
