compatibility Rated 5 out of 5 stars

I love Classic compact theme and options but i'm having compatibility problems with Firefox 3.6.3. Everytime i restart PC and open Firefox this addon is disabled and says its incompatibile withe Firefox 3.6.3. I use XP SP3.

If i right click it and hit update it comes back on. Tho, i can't do this every time :(

Can someone help me please? Thx :)

Nice, but
I like my new tabs to drop down from main toolbar, like in MacOSX theme
So hopefully you will release such a thing

Mac like tabs

No I would not be adding such a functionality into this extension. It is well beyond the scope of what this extension is intended to do. It would be better suited as a stand alone extension. It actually might actually make a pretty popular extension if someone were to make it, unfortunately it is well beyond my extension programming abilities and I don't have the time to learn how to do it.

The purpose of this extension is just to add so options to the look of the theme Classic Compact to address the different opinions of how the theme Classic Compact should look when it was updated from Firefox 2.0 to 3.0. Many users wanted it to stay with the classic Firefox 2.0 look, others wanted the new Firefox 3.0 look, but just very compact. The only way I could try to make both groups happy was to maintain two themes, which would have been a real pain or to create this options panel so that users could customize the theme some.

Great great stuff! The compact classic thème respond to a big problem of size of firefox, in my opinon.

BBUUUUTTTTT :D

Since I've install the compact option, wich allows me to have a more comfortable apparence, I have a problem:
all the box in the option (any options) doesn't change when they're cheked. So they all look uncheked, even if they are. The options setting changes, but I can see how!
I hope I can keep the add on!
Thanks for this great app.

OS System Color option set wrong

The cause of your problem with missing checks in check boxes is that you have the wrong option set for the "OS System Color" option. You probably have "very dark/black backgrounds" set when you should have "light/grey backgrounds" selected.

This is the best Compact Theme around and I've tried few. Only one little thing: Please update it for FF3.5!

I just upgraded to a Firefox 3.5 beta, and I find that I really miss having this extension. Every pixel counts! I hope it works for 3.5 soon.

This addon makes one of the best themes even better. It adds many more options, the best of which is the condensing Menu bar into the Menu button. My theme looks so slick and clean, and I love it!

Very nice add on that gives me a large amount of versatility ! Love the ability to use the Firefox 2 icons. It's like having two or three themes combined in one.

I liked miniFox immensely and even downloaded an addon to force install it for Firefox 3. However, several aesthetic problems arose for no apparent reason and led me to settle for classic compact and this addon. It works as a fine substitute except in a few criteria.

First of all, the space between menu items is too large, especially in the bookmarks menu and the history menu. When switching from miniFox to my current theme, I noticed that the size of my bookmarks menu nearly doubled.
Second, the visible borders between items in the status bar is a negative point because some items, such as NoScript, leave gaps when not in use. However, the Classic Compact theme outlines theses gaps.
And third, the website suggestions that appear when typing in the address bar shouldn't be so large. The favicon, title, and address for a web page can all fit on one line. Granted, these complaints are better aimed at the creators of Classic Compact and miniFox, but Barbalace seems to be the only person who cares enough to make Classic Compact appear more like miniFox.

Needs a revision. I along with several other people have experienced issues with Youtube (the star/thumbs up/down buttons disappearing) when the "Flat" or "Flat except tabs" options are selected.. This happens on both of my computers only when classic compact is installed and the flat/flat except tabs options are enabled.

Wow, I can make Firefox even *smaller* now. Amazing. The theme was impressive enough, and now it's highly customizable for even more space efficiency... Way to go, sir.

Superb theme. I myself found a bug, if you enable Background style as Flat or Flat except tabs some images won't show in Youtube. I was surprised to find this being the culprit.

this is exactly what i was looking for. I have a minor complaint in that it does not consistently show up on the add on list. Thanks, good job

A good add-on overall, but I wish it could turn off the "XP look" of radio buttons, check boxes, etc. in Firefox's settings windows, pull-downs, and dialog boxes -- they clash with my classic Windows theme, and the Firefox default theme doesn't have this problem (it uses whatever your Windows display settings are).

Praise, Request, and a Bug Rated 4 out of 5 stars

Praise: Very nice theme -- perfectly minimal. (+6 stars)

Request: When condensing menu to one item, it would be great if I could leave out the bookmarks (commonly used) -- a la TinyMenu's ability to exclude options from the shrinking (-0.5 star)
Also, I don't think you need to put in an extra menu item for the options -- you're not going to change it that much, and you can still get to it via the regular addons option. (-0.5 star)

Bug: I too have an issue where the checkboxes don't show up in Firefox3 (on XP) -- but this only occurs when setting the OS system color option to "dark" -- I'm assuming that your option is making the box forecolor white so it will show up on a dark bg...but the box is still white? (-0.5 star)

I'm also not sure, but I think this addon might crash FF3 when installed with TinyMenu... (-0.5 star)

All in all, the best minimal theme, and I'm probably being too harsh!

White checkmarks

Thank you for your observation about the white check marks in white check boxes. You are correct that the OS system color option is only to "flip" checkmark colors so that they work on dark backgrounds. Your observation about the white checkmark background was may be helpful in trying to resolve a common complaint.

I have received reports of some conflicts with other addons that have overlapping functionality with Classic Compact Options. I tried to tread lightly to prevent conflicts, but resolving some of takes other addon developers also making a greater effort to tread lightly.

For now my advice is to not use functionality in Classic Compact Options that is covered by another installed addon. Maybe this winter when things slow down for me I'll have time to try and find a way to side step some compatibility issues with other addons.

Excellent ! Rated 5 out of 5 stars

With this extensions, Compact Menu et Smart Bookmark Bar, all I need is in one bar ! :D
